Check engine light on

Hey all, I'm dealing with a bit of a car situation here and could really use your guidance. I have a 2022 Mazda CX30, gasoline engine, clocked around 68,071 KM. Lately, I've observed some worrying signs: a persistent check engine light, loss of engine power, and unstable engine performance. Plus, it's been jerking on acceleration and stalling and shaking while idling. This all leads me to suspect an issue with the tank ventilation system or a DMTL valve error. Last time I took it to a mechanic, it was a nightmare, hence trying to avoid going down that route if I can. Has anyone experienced something like this with their car? Any clues what's going on, and how was your experience with your mechanic? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hey, think I can understand what you're going through. I've got a 2019 Mazda3, and had a similar set of issues, save for the KGs - I clocked around 57,000 KM. Check engine light came on, power dropped, and I was dealing with rough idles. Turned out later that it was indeed a problem with the vent lines from the tank to DMTL valve. They were all faulty and it was pretty serious because the messed-up ventilation was causing all the chaos with the idling and shaking, not to mention the stalling. It wasn't anything small that could be ignored. While it sounds quite heavy-duty, thankfully it's not some deep engine! The mech had to replace those lines and apply a check on DMTL valve, that bugger. The whole job needed one good day at the garage. It was a bit of a still, but like they often say, better safe than sorry and I'm convinced it was best to get it sorted there and then, didn't fancy causing more damage or compromising the safety. So, despite your misgivings about mechanics, I’d say get it checked soon. Hope this helps and your ride gets back on smooth track soon!

Hey there! Your experience sounds really similar to my 's who had his 2020 Mazda CX30 go through the same drama. It turned out to be a DMTL valve issue just like in your case. He was quite anxious about it, but once it got fixed, it was smooth sailing. Out of curiosity, do you recall how much it set you back to get all those lines replaced and check the DMTL valve? Did any other related issues surface down the line after you got it sorted? Sharing these could potentially save someone from a lot of stress! Looking forward to your response!

Hey, good to see your response! Ah, that dreaded DMTL problem, totally feel your 's anxiety there! Yeah, the repair was not a pocket change, gotta say. Fixing those pesky Vent lines from the tank to the valve set me back 205.00 €. I guess it's a bit of a necessary evil though, right? Better money spent than risking greater damage or safety concerns! Since the fix, there's been no recurring problems related directly to it. The trusty old Mazda has been purring like a kitten. So, all in all, I reckon getting that repaired was more of a blessing than anything else. If you, or anyone else is experiencing anything similar, I'd say don’t delay. Get it checked out asap. Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit! Remember, alfresco road trips are only fun with a reliable motor beneath ya!

Hey, good! Thanks for sharing your experiences, much appreciated. Seems like this grouchy DMTL issue is more common than I initially thought. Yes, both of you have honestly convinced me to pay a visit to the garage soon. I've been a bit wary after my last ordeal, but you're right, it's all about finding a trustworthy mechanic and getting the job properly done. I guess €205 isn't too steep considering the alternative could be worse damage or neglecting safety concerns. So, the weekend plan is to now head on to the mechanic and get this sorted right. Fingers crossed the Mazda sails smooth after this. Thanks again for your input. As they say, there's no adventure without a little grumble and rumble on the way, eh? Cheers!
