Mazda CX30 Issues: Black Smoke, Engine Power Loss, and Troubles Starting

Shaking while idling

Loss of engine power

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Jerking on acceleration

Unsteady engine

Car won't start

Longer cold start time

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Hi all, I'm reaching out because my 2021 Mazda CX30 with a Gasoline engine isn't running smoothly. I'm noticing black smoke during acceleration, my check engine light is on, and the cold start time has increased. I'm also experiencing loss of engine power, uneven engine operation, jerks when accelerating, trouble starting the car, and it stalls and shakes at idle. It seems like there might be an issue with the fuel mix, but I'm not completely sure. Has anyone faced a similar issue? If so, what was your experience at the workshop and how did they fix the problem? Any tips would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! I'm no pro, but I do have some experience to share. I had a similar problem with my 2019 Mazda CX3 a while back. I took my car to the local workshop. Turns out, it was the Fuel pressure regulator that was defective, causing all these symptoms. They fixed me up for about 250€ isn't cheap but my car runs smooth now. Any idea of your car's mileage or maintenance history? With some more info, we might be able to help you out a bit more here. Hope this helps in some way! Cheers.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Well, my Mazda CX30 has clocked in about 218984 KM till now. It was last serviced a couple of months ago. Nothing unusual was reported at the time. Hoping to solve this issue without burning a hole in my pocket. On the brighter side, if it's something to do with the fuel pressure regulator as you've suggested, I might just stumble into a quick fix. Thanks for your insight, it really gave me a breathing space. Cheers!

Hey there again! Looks like your Mazda has seen a fair bit of the road! With that mileage, it's not uncommon for the Fuel pressure regulator or other components to wear out and cause the issues you're experiencing. I totally get wanting to keep costs low. This might be a good chance to find a trusted local mechanic if you haven't already, as they'll often charge a lot lesser than the dealership for these kind of repairs. Remember, from my experience, it was the Fuel pressure regulator, but it might be something different in your case. I'd suggest getting a thorough diagnosis from a good mechanic. One tip I can give from my experience: communication is key, make sure they know all of your symptoms firsthand. You're investing in the health of your vehicle, and ultimately, that can save you a lot more down the line! Keep us updated. Best of luck with everything! Cheers.

Hey, thanks a bunch for your advice! Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I do have a trusted local mechanic in mind who has helped me out in the past. Seems like the best step forward is to take the car in for a full diagnosis and let them know about all the symptoms upfront. I totally agree that making an investment in the car's health now can save me bigger costs down the line. Will definitely keep you updated on how the repair goes. Once again, cheers for all the help!
