Hey, thanks for chiming in! That sounds exactly like the disaster I'm dealing with. My bet was on the DPF and the back-pressure sensor too. Good to know I'm not the only one going through this. Your Mazda's recovery gives me hope. Can you recall how heavy this set you back on the wallet? Also, has anything else cropped up since you got it sorted? Keeping my fingers crossed it's a one-off. Cheers!
Hey, glad I could provide some insight! To give you a ballpark figure, the clean-up job for the heavily loaded DPF and the sensor replacement had me forking out around 1325.00 €. Yeah, it's not pocket change, but it was worth every euro. Ever since those repairs, she's been purring like a kitten and no troubles since then. The important thing here, my is that the beastly back pressure sensor issue was sorted and my Mazda hasn't been chuggin' like a beat-up old tractor. And oh boy, what a relief it is to finally see that nasty check engine light off. It’s been smooth sailing since the fix. Here's to hoping it's a one-off fix for your Mazda too! Cheers!
Hey my your experience is a major relief! The costs do seem steep but hey if that gets my Mazda back on track, it's worth every penny. Looking forward to getting rid of that ugly engine light glare and bringing back the purr in the engine. Wish me luck, heading to my local mechanic tomorrow with your advice in mind. Hoping I won't have to face any more issues post this. Will keep you updated. Thanks for the info, really appreciate it! Cheers!
Hey there sounds like you're having a rough one. I reckon your intuition's spot on, it sure sounds like a DPF issue. I've got a 2016 Mazda CX5 Diesel, pretty similar to yours, just a bit older. Went through something comparable not long ago. My beauty was also puffing out chunks of black smoke and the engine was as rough as sandpaper, couldn't get the DPF to regen too. Had a feeling that it was the Exhaust gas back pressure sensor too, messing with the Diesel particulate filter, causing my old girl to drink fuel like no one's business. My go-to-garage was a lifesaver. Dude ran his diagnostic magic, and bam, turned out the DPF was loaded. Had to get the DPF cleaned up professionally and replaced that pesky sensor. Post-repair, my car’s been running a lot smoother, the black smoke's gone and the DPF is regenerating like it should. So yep, looks like your hunch is right. Just heads-up, yeah it was crucial, but don't stress too much, as it's a common problem with high mileage Diesel engines. Hope this helps you out and good luck with getting your ride sorted. Cheers!
