Mazda 6 Diesel 2014 Model's Seat Heaters Not Working: Seek Advice on Troubleshooting

Seat heating without function

Hey! I need some advice on a weird issue I'm facing with my Mazda 6 Diesel, 2014 model. The seat heaters aren't kicking in at all. I suspect the heaters have failed, but wanted to get a second opinion before I begin troubleshooting. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? If so, how did your workshop sort it out? Any tips or shared experience would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! I'd say I have some experience with cars and had a similar issue on my Mazda 3, 2012 model. From my understanding, it turned out to be a defective heating mat seat. The at my local garage sorted it out, cost me about 390€. By the way, could you toss me some more details about your Mazda? Like seat material type, any prior issues with seats or any warning lights? Would be helpful to give you a bit more detailed advice. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the response! Glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue. As for your question, my Mazda's seats are leather, no prior issues with them at all. And no, haven't seen any warning lights popping up on the dashboard either. But I do have a fair bit of mileage on the car, over 57k km. It was serviced recently though, so I assumed everything was good. Guess I was wrong, eh? Anyway, appreciate your insight definitely gives me somewhere to start looking. Cheers!

Hey again! No worries, happy to help. That's quite a mileage you’ve got there, but honestly, seat heating issues can pop up regardless of that. This being said, high mileage plus leather seating might explain it - leather can be harsh on the heating elements if not regularly conditioned which might have caused the issue. Knowing that you’re not seeing any error messages, it’s possible there's a wiring problem or even the heating elements might have become worn out. My advice given your situation, and speaking from my experience, would be to get the seats checked out by your local garage affording professional services. They’ll likely run a diagnostic test to see any hidden issues. Replacing the heating elements or wiring (if that's the issue) can be a bit pricey though. Shop around for quotes if you can! All the best with sorting it out, hope your Mazda 6 is warm and cozy again soon! Cheers!

Hey, thanks again! Fair point about the leather seats, never really gave that much thought. I will look into getting my Mazda to a local garage for a thorough check on those heating elements and wiring. Not really looking forward to the potential costs, but hey, gotta keep the ride comfy right? Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise, really appreciate it. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Will get those quotes and hopefully have my car warm in no time. Cheers!
