Hey there! Wow, that does sound a lot like what's happening with my Mazda 5. Thanks for sharing your experience and for the reassuring words about getting it fixed! It's great to hear that your car has been running smoothly since you dealt with this issue. Just out of curiosity, do you remember roughly what you ended up paying to get that Activated Carbon Filter replaced? I'm trying to get a ballpark figure in my head. Also, has anything else popped up related to this problem since the fix? Thanks!
Hey back at ya! First off, I'm glad to hear that you found my experience helpful. It's always good to have some peace of mind, right? So, about the cost. To replace the Activated Carbon Filter, it set me back about 275.00 €. Not exactly chump change, but hey, could be worse! And since the repair, it's been smooth sailing honestly, no problems to speak of. The leak in the tank ventilation system, which had me concerned initially, turned out to be completely sorted out after seeing my trustworthy mechanic. So on that front, no other issues have popped up since the fix. It seems we’re back in business, properly. I hope your Mazda 5 will be just fine after some TLC! Cheers!
Hey! Appreciate the quick follow-up and the insight on the repair costs. 275€, huh? Sounds reasonable for keeping the ol' girl running smoothly, so fingers crossed it's something similar in terms of expense. Stellar to hear that the venting situation and the filter replacement have kept things running smooth for you. Your words definitely give me some peace of mind and now I know what scale of dent it's going to put on my pocket, so cheers for the honesty! I'll take my Mazda to the garage this weekend and will update here on how it goes. Thanks again. You've been a real help!
Hey there! Very similar issue happened to my 2012 Mazda 3. The engine light came on, accompanying the rough idle and jerking during acceleration. Turns out, it was an issue with the Activated Carbon Filter being defective. This little component has a job of filtering out the fuel vapors before they could be sent back into the combustion process, so when it's faulty, it sure manifests with such symptoms. Getting it resolved wasn't a massive deal, fortunately. My garage spotted the problem pretty quickly. It needed a replacement that needed a bit of work, but it wasn't like rebuilding the engine or anything. I will say, though, it's not something that should be ignored. A defective filter can lead to some serious fuel system issues, so I'd definitely get it checked out. In regards to how my mechanics handled it, they nailed it. Really professional and capable bunch. But no costs chat here, sorry! It was painless and I was soon back on the road, nary a problem since. Best of luck with yours!
