Hey, thank for the reply! Now that you've mentioned it, I hadn't even considered a problem with the exhaust. I suppose it's worth checking out everything before jumping to conclusions. Your case sounds bizarrely identical to mine, down to the jumpy ride and the engine sounding rougher than an old cowboy movie. Now, if you don't mind me asking, ballpark figure, how deep did you have to reach into your pockets to get the exhaust manifold, gasket, and the O2 sensor all fixed up? Also, did any other pesky issues pop up afterward, or was it smooth cruising once they'd done their magic? Cheers!
Hey, happy to help! Yeah, car troubles can be a real headache, I can feel you on that! To answer your question, it wasn’t exactly pocket change, but thank goodness it wasn't an arm and a leg either. The total fix set me back about 265 Euro, and that was strictly for patching up that pesky exhaust leak. By the way, I should probably clarify - after seeing the mechanic, that Lambda sensor defect we talked about was resolved. They really did their thing over at the garage! Since then, it's been nothing but smooth cruising. My Mazda runs smoother than a jazz tune, no new problems whatsoever. It was money well spent, I'd say. I can't guarantee it'll be the same for you, every car's a story on its own, but you know, fingers crossed! Let's hope it's nothing major. Good luck and keep us posted! Cheers!
Hey, thanks again for the insightful advice! It certainly gives me a head start knowing what to expect. 265 Euro doesn't sound as nightmarish as I'd feared. And indeed, peace of mind knowing that your ride runs smoothly is absolutely priceless! The quick response is truly appreciated. I'll definitely book an appointment with the garage and get the exhaust and O2 sensor inspected immediately. We'll see what the mechanics uncover this time. Fingers crossed it's the same issue and not something worse. I'll keep this thread updated once I get to the bottom of things. Hopefully, my next update will be full of good news! Thanks again for sharing your experiences. Cheers!
Hey there! Your symptoms sound pretty similar to what I had recently on my 2010 Mazda 6. Yeah the nightmare of a leaking exhaust! I'm no expert, but black smoke and drop in power usually point to this. Mine exhibited exactly the same symptoms: jerky acceleration, the engine light was on, it was acting like it ran a marathon, and an absolute fuel hog. Also, the engine got rougher than sandpaper, and not in a cool, tough car way. Like you, I initially thought it's a Lambda sensor issue, but that turned out to be as wrong as pineapple on pizza. After a bit of a rough patch, I took my ride to another garage, and the technicians ran a thorough diagnose. The problem was eventually found - the culprit was an exhaust leak. To fix this, they had to replace the exhaust manifold and gasket. Also, they had to work on the O2 sensor – in case you're wondering, it’s part of the system that tells your car how much fuel to burn, so a problem with it might just result in you burning more fuel than a rocket. So yeah, it was a fairly significant issue. My advice is to get your car checked out as soon as possible. Don't jump to conclusions with the Lambda sensor before proper diagnostics are made. That being said, good luck getting to the bottom of your problem! Cheers!
