Hey, thanks for the input! Did you have a Camry back then too or was that with your Corolla? I remember the electronics stuff can be pretty crunchy. And replacing the ECU... phew, that sounds like expensive fun... Do you remember how much it cost you? And were there any further problems afterwards, or did everything run smoothly?

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! It was with my Corolla, but I can well imagine that the problem could occur with other models in the same way. After I went to the mechanic, they fixed the fault on the door outside handle electronics. As you say, electronics engineers can indeed be pretty crunchy. As for the costs, yes, repairing the control unit can be expensive. In my case it was around €600. But since replacing the control unit, everything has been running smoothly again, so it was definitely worth it in my case. Best regards!

Oh, that sounds like a stressful affair, but I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any further problems since. 600€ is a fair bit of money, but if it prevents the dreaded mess with the electronics then it seems worth it. I'm going to prepare to leave my car with the mechanic for a few days. I just hope it all runs smoothly again afterwards like you did. Thanks for your advice Impact, I really appreciate your help!

Hey, I know this all too well. In my case, it was the control unit in my 2018 Toyota Corolla. The central locking system went crazy and the interior lighting kept coming on. It looked just like yours. The mechanic at the time said it was the control unit that was faulty and that was a real pain in the neck as I think it's a core component and shouldn't fail so easily. At the time, I was pretty worried that the door handle electronics might also have been affected, but that wasn't the case. Replacing the control unit fixed the problem and it has been running like clockwork ever since. So I would also suspect the control unit. It's not a small problem, but it's not the end of the world either. The best way to prepare is probably to mentally prepare yourself to leave your car in the store for a few days. Good luck, dude!
