Hello and thank you for your detailed post! Your experience sounds really similar to my current situation. Interesting that it was the heat exchanger temperature sensor for you too. And yes, I'm a bit hesitant about the workshop... You're right, of course. You shouldn't be put off by a bad experience. But tell me, do you remember how expensive the repair was for you? And has there been anything else wrong with your car since the workshop visit, or has everything been running smoothly since then? Thank you and best regards!

Yes, I can understand your concerns about the workshop, but since my last visit the car has been running like clockwork. This fault with the heat exchanger temperature sensor had been completely rectified. The cost of fixing the "defective temperature sensor cable/connector" was €155 for me. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but I haven't had a problem with the heating or air conditioning since. So it was definitely worth it. In your case, I would advise you to have it checked. It could well be the same problem. Go for it and good luck!

Hi and thanks for the quick reply! Good to know that there have been no further problems since the visit to the garage. 155 for the repair is a bit more expensive than expected, but if it fixes the problem reliably then it's worth it. It would probably be more expensive in the long run if the air conditioning and heating stopped working altogether. I'll take your advice to heart and take my Crossland to the garage for a check-up. Keep your fingers crossed that it really is just the temperature sensor. Maybe I can also find a trustworthy mechanic who can do it quickly and properly. Thanks again for your help and your experience! See you next time and take good care of yourself. Knock yourself out!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra, a petrol engine from 2015. The air conditioning just didn't cool properly and in winter it was no fun waiting for the heating to come on. In the end, it turned out that it was actually the temperature sensor of the heat exchanger. This was the "defective temperature sensor cable/connector" problem, to be precise. Due to the fault, the system measured the wrong values and therefore controlled the wrong points. Of course, it's not a minor issue, but it's not the end of the world either. Basically, the sensor needed to be replaced and the connections checked to make sure they weren't corroded or damaged. I can understand you last experience with the mechanic wasn't the best, but in my case it was necessary to have this fixed at the garage. Remember that every garage works differently, so don't let a bad experience put you off. Just try to find someone you can trust. In the end, the repair made my car run perfectly again. So, get your A/C/heating checked, it could very well be the same problem. Good luck with that!
