Malfunctions in the on-board electronics and battery problems in a 2008 BMW 6 Series gasoline engine

General electric malfunction

Hi everyone, I have a problem with my 2008 BMW 6 Series gasoline engine. I had quite a run of bad luck with my mechanic last time and don't want to stumble into it again unprepared. At the moment the on-board electronics are acting up, messages from a stored error, lights flicker or go dim and the battery dies when starting. I have a suspicion that it could be due to an interruption in terminal 15. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can perhaps give me a few tips on how to deal with it at the mechanic? Mine has a proud 185,065 km on the clock. Thanks in advance!

Hey, Something like what you describe happened to me with my 2011 BMW 5 series. Mine was also unstable and showed similar error messages. It turned out that the battery was too weak, which led to problems with the electrical system. There was also a problem with the ignition switch, which could also misdirect my on-board computer. I'm not a mechanic, but definitely make your battery an issue when you get back to your mechanic. And maybe they'll check the ignition switch too, just to be sure... Hope this helps you, and have a safe journey!

Hey, great, thanks for your quick reply! Yes, it sounds like my little one has this problem too. Can you remember what you ended up paying for it? And have there been any more difficulties since then or is everything running smoothly again?

Hey, you're welcome! So, to fix that, the mechanic had to replace the faulty engine control unit and that cost me €1000. And to answer your second question, no, no other problems have arisen since then. Once the mechanic had repaired the interruption in terminal 15, everything was back to normal. Since then, my BMW has been running like clockwork. I hope this helps you and that your BMW will soon be running smoothly again!

Hey, that sounds reassuring, although €1000 is a pretty hefty price. But the most important thing is that there were no more problems afterwards and everything is running smoothly again. Thanks again, now I have a better idea of what to tell the mechanic and what to expect. Hopefully I'll have the same luck as you and my BMW will work perfectly again after the repair. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks again!

Hello, you can go to the dpf function in the App (but of course only on a Diesel car and not for a Petrol Car) :). 1. Connect to the car 2. Go to all functions 3. Then select DPF Here is our faq to the dpf function: https://support.mycarly.com/hc/de/articles/360010641000-BMW-DPF-funktioniert-nicht-Was-soll-ich-tun If you need any more help, we are here for you.

It sounds like you might be having issues with the app itself. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. If the problem persists, it could be an issue with your device's memory or storage. Make sure you have enough free space and that your device is up to date. If none of these steps work, you might need to contact the app's support team for further assistance. Please let me know how it goes.
