Malfunction of the cruise control on Ford C MAX 2005 - experiences and solutions wanted

Poor fuel economy

Loss of engine power

Car won't start

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Longer cold start time

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Ford C MAX, gasoline engine, year 2005. I noticed that the indicator light is on, the cold start time is longer, there is a loss of power, jerking when accelerating and sometimes the car won't start at all. Also sluggish fuel consumption. I think it could be the faulty behavior of the cruise control. Have you had similar experiences? I would be pleased to receive tips and suggestions, especially when it comes to what the workshop did to rectify this. What good did it do you? Thanks for your help!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Ford B MAX, gasoline engine, year 2003. I would classify my knowledge of cars as low. Regarding your problem: My garage said that the intake ducts were heavily contaminated. I paid 425 euros to have them cleaned and everything worked perfectly again afterwards. Can you give me more details about your car configuration, such as the exact engine and mileage? Then I might be able to help you more precisely. LG.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply and help! My car has a mileage of 68381 km. I don't know the exact engine version off the top of my head, but nothing unusual was found during the last service. Perhaps I should also have the intake ducts checked. Who knows, maybe that will help. Your experience report will definitely help me. Thanks again! LG.

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! With the mileage of your car, contaminated intake ducts could actually be an issue. It was similar for me, my Ford also had a little over 60,000 km on it at the time. So I would advise you to have it checked at the garage. The costs were not without cost for me, but what can you do... The juddering was gone afterwards and the car ran like clockwork again. Remember, even if it's the intake ducts, don't completely ignore other possible causes. Perhaps the spark plugs and fuel filter should also be checked at the next workshop visit. Good luck and let us know how it goes! LG.

Hey, thanks for your advice! I will definitely follow your tips and have everything checked at the garage. Hope that solves the problem. You're right, it can be expensive, but what do you know, safety and comfort come at a price. The spark plugs and fuel filter sound like a good idea too. I'll definitely keep you posted and let you know how it goes! Until then, thanks again for your help! LG.
