Macan Seat Heater Failure: Common Fix & Cost Guide

Seat heating without function

Hey everyone, my 2014 Porsche Macan's seat heaters stopped working completely. Both driver and passenger side are affected. Before taking it to the dealer, I'd like to know if anyone has dealt with this issue before. What was the actual problem and how was it fixed? Any repair costs you could share would be helpful too. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I have some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2016 Porsche Cayenne last winter. The heating elements in both front seats died completely, just like yours. Took it to my local Porsche specialist (not the dealer) who diagnosed it as defective heating mats. The fix involved replacing both seat heating elements. Total cost was around 390€ including labor. What's the mileage on your Macan? Also, did you notice any warning lights or did they just stop working suddenly? This info would help determine if you're facing the same problem. Honestly, this seems to be a somewhat common issue with Porsches from that era. I'd recommend having a professional look at it since it involves the seat's electrical system.

Thanks for the info! My Macan just hit 49999 KM and had its latest service done last month. The heaters just stopped working suddenly, no warning lights or anything. It's frustrating because everything was working fine before. Think I'll get it checked by my local specialist first before heading to the dealer. Hopefully it won't cost me too much to fix!

Hey again! Yeah, that sounds exactly like what happened with my Cayenne, they just quit working out of the blue. Mine was at around 55K km when it happened, so pretty similar mileage to yours. Since you just had your service done, it's weird they didn't catch any early warning signs. But honestly, these heating elements tend to just give up without any heads-up. In my case, I'm really glad I went with my local specialist instead of the dealer, saved quite a bit of money there. Quick update on mine since I got it fixed: they've been working perfectly for over a year now. The repair was totally worth it, especially during these cold months. My specialist mentioned that the new heating mats they're using now are more durable than the original ones, so hopefully, you won't have this problem again after getting them replaced. Keep us posted on what your specialist finds out! I'm curious if it's the same issue as mine.

Thanks so much for all the details and the follow-up! It's really reassuring to hear that your repair has held up well for over a year. I've actually just booked an appointment with my local specialist for next Tuesday. You're right about potentially saving money compared to dealer prices, the specialist quoted me a rough estimate of 400€, which sounds pretty close to what you paid. Fingers crossed it's just the heating mats and nothing more complicated! I'll definitely take your advice about the newer, more durable replacements. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's made me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I'll post an update once I get it sorted out!
