Macan Diesel Running Hot, Trusted Repair Help Needed

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hey there, anyone dealt with overheating issues in a 2019 Porsche Macan Diesel? My engine's running hot and the check engine light just came on. I'm suspecting it might be the thermostat, but after a recent bad experience with my mechanic, I'd love to hear where you got yours fixed and how it went. My car's only at 20,682 KM, so this seems a bit early for such issues. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Had a similar issue with my 2016 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last summer. Initially thought it was just the thermostat, but when I took it to the dealership, they found some rodent damage to the wiring harness near the cooling system sensors. The wires were partially chewed through, causing incorrect temperature readings and triggering the check engine light. The repair involved replacing part of the wiring harness and doing a full diagnostic of the cooling system. It was quite serious since damaged wiring can cause multiple system failures or even short circuits. The job took about two days to complete as they had to remove several components to access the damaged area. Since your Macan has such low mileage, I'd strongly suggest taking it to an authorized Porsche center. These cooling system issues can be tricky to diagnose, and with the complexity of these engines, you'll want someone who really knows what they're doing.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, especially the part about the rodent damage, wouldn't have thought of that. Would you mind telling me how much the repair set you back? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be in for with my Macan.

Hey again! Happy to give you an update on my Cayenne situation. I went to the Porsche center as I mentioned, and they did a fantastic job fixing everything. The coolant thermostat issue is completely resolved, my car's running perfectly cool now, like it should. The whole thing set me back 170€ to fix that pesky wiring harness damage those little critters caused. Since the repair, I haven't had a single temperature warning or check engine light, everything's been working like a charm. It's actually been about 8 months now, and I can confidently say the fix was worth every penny. The car runs better than ever! One thing's for sure, I definitely made the right call going to the authorized dealership. Their diagnostic was spot-on, and they really knew what they were doing with these complex systems. For your Macan, even though it might cost a bit more upfront, I'd still recommend going to a Porsche specialist. Better safe than sorry with these high-end vehicles, you know? Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know if you need any other info about my experience.

Just wanted to update you on what happened with my Macan! Took your advice and went to the Porsche center. Turns out, my issue was a bit different, they found a small coolant leak from a cracked hose connection. The diagnostic process was super thorough, and they spotted it pretty quickly. The repair cost me about 220€, which included replacing the hose and a full coolant system check. They had my car ready in just one day, and I've got to say, the service was top-notch. You were absolutely right about going to an authorized dealer, their expertise really showed. It's been three weeks now, and my Macan's running perfectly, no more overheating issues or warning lights. The temperature gauge stays exactly where it should be, even during longer drives. Really appreciate your help in steering me in the right direction with this. Sometimes spending a bit more at the dealership really does pay off in the long run. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it definitely helped me make the right choice!
