Thanks for sharing your experience with the Cayenne! Mine's at 74677 KM and just had its service last month. The symptoms sound pretty similar to what you described. I'm not getting any error messages on the dash, which is making it even more confusing. Been to the dealership once before for regular maintenance, but this is my first real issue with the car. Your experience with the control unit issue is really helpful, I'll definitely mention this when I take it in. Did your AC also gradually get worse, or did it just suddenly stop cooling one day?
Hey again! Thanks for asking about the progression of the AC issue. In my Cayenne, it was actually a gradual thing, started noticing it wasn't cooling as well as it used to, especially during warmer days. Over about 2-3 weeks, it got progressively worse until it was basically just blowing warm air, just like what you're describing with your Macan. The weird thing is, I also didn't get any error messages at first, which is what made me initially think it was something simple like low refrigerant. But nope, the control unit was definitely the culprit. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, before taking it to the shop, I noticed that sometimes if I turned the AC off and on again, it would work properly for a short while before going back to blowing warm air. Did you notice anything like that with yours? This was actually one of the things that helped the technician diagnose the issue with my control unit. Also, since you mentioned your recent service, did they check the AC system during that service? Sometimes these issues can start showing up right after a service, which might be worth looking into. Let me know what you find out when you get it checked. Always curious to know if these issues are becoming more common in our diesel models!
Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! Yes, that's exactly what's happening with mine, sometimes it works for a bit after restarting! Can't believe I didn't mention that earlier. Actually, now that you mention the gradual decline, I do remember it being a bit weak about a month ago, but I just brushed it off thinking it was because of the weather. During the last service, they did a basic AC check, but nothing in-depth. Going to call the dealer tomorrow and book it in, and I'll definitely mention the control unit issue you had with your Cayenne. Really appreciate all your help with this, it's super helpful to have a real-world example to reference. Will update you once I know what's wrong with mine. Thanks again!
Hey there! I have some experience with cars, and I actually faced something similar with my 2017 Porsche Cayenne Diesel. Got really frustrated when the AC started acting up just like yours. Took it to my local Porsche specialist, and turns out it was the AC control unit that went bad. Cost me around 980€ to get it fixed, not cheap, but that's Porsche for you! They had to replace the entire control module. Can you share more details about your Macan? Like the exact trim level and mileage? This could help pinpoint if it's the same issue I had. Also, are you getting any error messages on the dash?
