Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. The cable harness issue sounds exactly like what I might be dealing with. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been working smoothly since then, or did you run into any other electrical issues? Thinking about taking mine to the dealer too, just want to know what I'm getting into cost-wise.
Hey again! Happy to update you! So yeah, after seeing the mechanic I mentioned, they found the same issue as I suspected it was indeed the Hall sensor on the tailgate that was acting up. They fixed the faulty cable which was causing all the drama, and the whole thing cost me 95€. Not too bad considering I was worried it might be something way more expensive! The power tailgate has been working like a charm ever since no more warning lights or any other electrical gremlins popping up. It's been about a year now, and I haven't had a single problem with it. Honestly, taking it to the Infiniti dealer was definitely the right call they knew exactly what they were dealing with. Trust me, it's worth getting it sorted properly at the dealer rather than trying to save a few bucks at a regular garage. These hybrid systems can be pretty finicky, and you want someone who knows what they're doing. The peace of mind is totally worth it! Let me know how you get on with yours!
Thanks a lot for the follow-up! I actually took your advice and went to the Infiniti dealer yesterday. You were spot on about everything they found the same Hall sensor issue and fixed the wiring. Cost me a bit more than yours (around 120€) but I'm just glad it's sorted now! The service was super professional, and they even gave my car a complimentary wash, which was a nice bonus. The power tailgate is working perfectly again, and that annoying warning light is finally gone from my dash. Such a relief! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience it definitely helped me make the right decision about where to take my car. Wouldn't have been so confident about going to the dealer without your input. Case closed! Back to enjoying my trouble-free Infiniti again!
Hey there! I actually faced a similar issue with my 2014 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid last year. Initially thought it was just the sensor too, but when I took it to the dealer, they diagnosed it as a faulty cable harness in the tailgate. The wiring had worn out over time due to the constant opening and closing motion. In my case, the cable was completely damaged and had to be replaced along with the harness assembly. It wasn't just a quick fix took the mechanic about 4 hours to complete the job. While it's not a critical safety issue, it's definitely something you want to get fixed properly since it can potentially affect other electrical components if left unattended. I'd recommend getting it checked at an Infiniti certified shop they have the right diagnostic tools for hybrid models. Regular mechanics might miss some of the hybrid-specific components that could be affecting the system. Hope this helps with your decision!
