Loud Engine and Exhaust Issues on Cold Start with 2019 Fiat Mobi

Loud engine when cold

Loud exhaust

Hey everyone, I've got a 2019 Fiat Mobi, petrol version, with around 101k kms on the dial, and she's giving me some grief lately. Every cold start is a headache with the engine roaring louder than a Metallica concert and my exhaust practically joining in the chorus. I'm starting to think the exhaust flap could be on strike. The thing is, my last visit to the mechanic was a total bust. I was curious if any of you guys had troubles like this before and how it panned out at your own mechanic's? Any advice or heads up would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, ironically I had a very similar issue with my 2016 Fiat Punto not too long ago. Definitely seemed serious at first but turned out manageable. She also started singing a death metal ballad every time I cranked her cold. Figured out it was an exhaust flap problem after a few, less than fun, days at the garage. Thankfully, despite the loud noise, it didn't cause any significant damage to the other parts. The mechanics ended up taking the exhaust flap system apart and fixing the fault, also they reassembled it again. It was a bit of a bother, won't lie, having to leave her in the garage for some time, but the fix held its own and she's been smooth and silent since, especially on cold starts. Hope you get yours fixed soon without too much drama. Cheers!

Hey there! It's funny how you've painted the whole Metallica scenario with your Fiat Mobi, had a good laugh. Can totally relate, though. Not a fan of surprise solos from my car either! Your ordeal sounds pretty similar to what I faced with my previous car. As for your question, just out of curiosity, do you recall how much dough you had to part with to get your exhaust flap issue sorted out? And has your Fiat given you any more unexpected performances since the fix or has it been just peace and quiet? Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Cheers!

Hey there again! Glad to see a fellow car-lover showing interest in my exhaust saga! Haha. So, as for the cost, it made my wallet a bit lighter, to be honest. I shelled out 190€ to get that dang exhaust flap back on track. A bit steep, maybe, but in the end, it saved me from any further Metallica-like encores. And to answer your other question, since the revamp, my Fiat's been behaving a lot better. She's harmonizing more with Enya than Metallica now, and the cold morning startups have never been smoother. I do hope your Fiat Mobi gets back on track soon. Cheers!

Wow, I must say you guys have really calmed my nerves with your experiences. Big thanks for the chat, those numbers don't seem as terrifying as I expected, though not exactly pocket change, but I guess a peaceful ride on my Mobi will definitely be worth it. I really hope the mechanics can tune her down from a Metallica concert to Enya's whispers as they did with your Punto. That's some transformation I am looking forward to, haha. Your input certainly shed some light on my situation and for that, I'm grateful. Wish me luck! Safe travels! Cheers!
