Hey there, I can't thank you enough for your input! It really gives me a better understanding of where the problem may lie. So, replacing this rebellious exhaust flap was your final pit stop, eh? You've got me curious though. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that dent your wallet? And has anything else flared up since you got it fixed? Cheers!
Hey again! Yeah, you got that right - changing that misbehaving exhaust flap was the final fix. About the impact on my pocket, it wasn't as bad as one might expect. I was set back 190€ - yeah, you read correctly! Now, don't go thinking that's chump change, but it’s certainly less shocking than getting a brand new exhaust system, eh? Ever since I paid my mechanic that visit, all has been quiet on the western front! The flap's doing its job nicely, and my beloved ride is smoothly running...and quietly may I add! Me and my Megane are back to enjoying peaceful drives - no more feeling like I'm at some heavy metal concert every time I hit the road. Good luck with your Arkana!
You're a lifesaver! Honestly, what would we do without forums like this? Thanks for the info, really eased my mind. I was bracing for a hefty bill but 190€ does seem more of a gentle punch than a knockout. Stoked to hear that your Megane is doing well post-fix — gives me hope! Looks like my rebellious exhaust flap and I are due for a visit to the mechanic, eh? Hopefully, it'll be as smooth sailing as your experience. Thanks again for dropping some knowledge and sharing the tale about you and your Megane! Cheers!
Hey, I feel your pain. I had a similar issue with my 2016 Renault Megane a while back. Turns out it was indeed the exhaust flap causing the ruckus. My mechanic explained that it helps direct the exhaust gases and when it goes rogue, it can make your engine sound like a rock concert. It was no walk in the park, honestly. You see, it wasn't an issue that can be instantly sorted out by a bit of duct tape and superglue (would've been fun though, eh?). Down at the garage, they had to full on replace the rotten thing. Turns out, the frigid weather had rusted it out prematurely. Definitely wasn't a Ferrari, that Megane, but it sure sounded like one! Moral of the story? Don't ignore a bad exhaust flap. A noisy car can be a real headache. So, yeah, I'd recommend visiting a reliable garage and getting that exhaust flap checked pronto. It’s not the end of the world, but definitely not something you wanna ignore either. All the best!
