General electric malfunction

Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2007 BMW 5 Series Diesel. Somehow there's a complete electrical mess - the sat nav no longer works, warning lights are flashing and I suspect that the MOST bus isn't working properly. Have any of you ever experienced a situation like this and could give me a few tips on how to isolate the problem? It would be great if you could also tell me about your experiences with the workshop regarding the problem. Where was the fault and what were the costs? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I happened to have a similar problem with my 2005 BMW 3 Series diesel. I don't know much about cars, but after a bit of research and a chat with my garage, I realized that there was a problem with the MOST bus. The fault was a break in the fiber optic cable for the MOST bus connection. The end result was that I had to have the repair done in my workshop. It cost me 235 euros, but afterwards everything was fine again. Could you please tell me exactly which model your 5 is and if you have noticed any other electrical problems? Maybe I can help you better with a few more details.

Hey, thanks for the detailed answer! My 5 Series is a 530d. And apart from the electrical mess, no other problems. I only had my last service at 328401 km. It's possible that this has something to do with the MOST bus. I'll definitely take this up with my garage. Learned something again, thank you!

No problem, you're welcome! Exactly, it would be good to address the MOST bus. You may also have a break in the fiber optic cable, like in my car. Have the garage do a thorough check. And don't worry, even if it's the MOST bus, the costs are still reasonable. Then let us know what the actual problem was. Good luck, buddy!

Thanks for the tip and the moral support! I will definitely bring this up with the garage and give you an update as soon as I know more. I hope the costs won't be that high... See you then, and thanks again!

Good day! I have had some electrical issues before with my car, and it can be very frustrating. Have you checked the fuses or battery connections? Also, did any workshop give you a diagnosis? How much did they charge for the initial inspection? Any further info can help!
