Looking for help: BMW X2 Diesel with 'Central error memory lock active' error message and high repair costs

Fault stored

Hello everyone, I'm worried about my BMW X2 Diesel, which has already driven 22,518 km. Last time, the mechanic charged me a lot of money for a repair that really surprised me. Now my car shows the error Central error memory lock active. Have any of you had similar problems and can share your experiences with this type of fault and the costs involved? Any info would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

Thank you guys, your answers have really helped me! I went to the mechanic first thing in the morning and asked about it. They confirmed it was a general problem and updated the software and reset the ECU. The good news is that the fault has finally been fixed. I'm really glad it went so smoothly. So thanks again everyone, your info was really useful!

Moin, don't worry, it's not a big problem. The same thing happened with my BMW X5. My car also showed the error Central error memory lock active. It was actually quite easy to fix. The last time I was in the garage, they reset the control unit. After that, the error was gone. So, it's not rocket science, your mechanic should be able to do it in no time at all. Hope that helps you!

Hey thanks man, that really calms me down. It's really cool that you've already been through it. Do you remember roughly how much it cost you and whether anything else came up after the repair?

Hey, I had the same problem. Medung central error memory lock active. Some component was probably broken for the repair, I can't remember exactly what, but he charged me around €600. Not exactly a bargain, but it was worth it. By the way, I drive a solid Mercedes CLA. So don't worry, your mechanic can do it too!

Hey guys, I had the same error with my BMW 3 series diesel, central error memory lock active, but the thing had already covered around 50,000 km. It cost me a little less, about 200€. But that's why I'm writing: it wasn't anything serious in my case, the mechanic just updated the software - everything worked perfectly again. At the next service, the mechanic then carried out a general check and everything was fine. So I would say that your X2 Diesel will be fine, especially as it has only covered 22,518 km. You can also ask the mechanic what it would cost first, it should definitely be feasible! Good luck, buddy!

Hello, what error code have you saved in the vehicle?

Was hoping after I replaced my right headlight that Carly would have coded it. But it didn’t. So how do I code the new headlight without taking it to the dealership and paying out the a$$?

Hello, In this case, this is not coding but programming. You would actually have to go to an authorized dealer and have the headlight programmed there.
