Your symptoms, such as the loss of power, uneven engine running and the black smoke, strongly suggest this. It was a serious problem, but fortunately nothing that couldn't be fixed. But since the intake manifold swirl flaps were repaired, my Renault has been purring like a kitten and I've had no further problems. It was definitely money well spent.
