Looking for advice and workshop for Ford Fusion 2007 with engine problems

Shaking while idling

Stalling while idling

Poor fuel economy

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Engine shuts off by itself

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Unsteady engine

Hi guys, I have recently started having some problems with my 2007 Ford Fusion, gasoline engine, mileage approx. 134742 km. It emits black smoke when accelerating, the check engine light is on, the engine sometimes shuts off by itself, the engine performance is poor and the engine runs rough. In addition, it jerks when accelerating, consumes a lot of fuel and sometimes stalls and vibrates when idling. I suspect it could be the mass air flow sensor, but I'm not a professional. Have you had similar experiences or can you even recommend a reliable workshop where I could have this checked? I only had a very bad experience with a garage last time... Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, I had similar problems with my 2010 Ford Mondeo a while ago. After the symptoms got worse and worse, I had it checked at the garage. In my case, the wiring harness was damaged and had to be replaced. This was definitely a serious problem, as it ultimately affected other components such as the mass airflow sensor, the control module and more. Of course, it's hard to say if it could be the same problem for you. But maybe it's actually better to get it checked before it gets worse. Take care of it before it causes more damage. The mechanics at my garage are real professionals and recognized the problem immediately. Hope that helps you. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Your experience sounds similar to my current problem, maybe it really is the wiring harness. Do you remember how much you paid for the repair back then? And have you had any similar problems since then or has everything gone well? Thank you in advance!

Hi, glad you replied to me. So, to answer your questions - yes, I remember the repair costs. It was quite manageable, to be honest. I had spent €95 to fix the damage to the wiring loom, which I think was a fair price. And to answer your second question, since the visit to the mechanic, everything has been running like clockwork - no further problems with my Ford. The mass air flow sensor fault was sorted out and since then my car has worked great, no more juddering, no high fuel consumption, just smooth. I hope this info helps you. Good luck in solving your problem!

Hi, thanks again for your helpful information! It sounds like I may have the same problem. It's reassuring to hear that the cost was reasonable and you haven't had any problems since. I'll see if I can get it checked out at a garage. Thanks again for your help!

Hello, Have you ever checked whether the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor are OK? These sensors can often be responsible for the symptoms. It is important to note that original spare parts are installed when replacing the sensors.
