Lighting problems and warning light on 2010 Mercedes Vito: experience and advice wanted

Error in the lighting

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2010 Mercedes Vito, gasoline engine, 163171 km mileage. My lights are completely spinning and the warning light in the speedometer is on all the time. I'm worried that it could be a glow agent fault. Has anyone had similar problems before and can tell me what the mechanic said about it? Unfortunately, my last garage experience was anything but good, so I would really appreciate your experience and advice. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Mercedes Sprinter. The headlights on my van were also acting up and the warning light was constantly on. It turned out to be a defective headlight control unit, not a glow agent defect. They had to replace it to solve the problem. It was annoying because I couldn't drive properly for a while, but I'd say it wasn't that serious a problem because it was eventually fixed. Hope that helps you a bit. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the answer! A defective control unit... I wasn't expecting that. Do you happen to remember how much the whole thing cost when you had it repaired? Have you had any problems with it or something similar since then?

Sure, no problem! It was a bit more expensive for me, I ended up having to fork out €630 to repair the defective headlight control unit. But since the repair, my Vito has been running like clockwork again, without any lighting problems. Incidentally, I really did have a glow agent fault, but it was fixed during my last visit to the mechanic. I hope this helps you. Good luck fixing your problem!

Wow, €630 is a lot of money, but if it solves my lighting problem, it's probably worth the investment. It's good to know that your Vito has been running well since the repair, that gives me hope. A glow agent fault would have been easier of course, but sometimes you just get unlucky. I will definitely take your advice on board. Many thanks for your help!

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting. If your car still won't start, it might be a problem with the fuel pump or the ignition system. I would recommend checking the fuel pump pressure and the spark plugs. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it might be best to have a professional mechanic look at it. Remember, issues with starting the car can be safety-relevant, so it's important to get it checked out.

Hello, Before you replace a part, in this case the charge air temperature sensor, you should of course first check whether the cable connections of the sensor and the plug connection are OK. If no fault can be found here, you should replace the charge air temperature sensor.

Hello, Was the correct battery installed with the same values as the original battery? Do the faults keep coming back or did you only have all the faults once?
