Lexus RC 2020 Heated Windows Malfunction: Seeking Mechanic Recommendations and Advice

Heated windows without function

|

Fault stored

Hey, need some advice. My 2020 Lexus RC with a Gasoline engine and about 86529 KM on the odometer has recently been giving me some issues. My heated windows aren't working right and I've got a stored fault popping up. Can't help but think it's related to the windscreen heating not functioning as it should. Last time I was at the mechanic was a nightmare so want to consider my options carefully. Has anyone here experienced something like this before or can recommend an honest mechanic? Thanks in advance!

Hey, similar issue turned up with my 2017 Lexus IS just a while back. Though my mileage was around 65000 KM. Had hell of problems, everything from the windscreen heater to the radio misbehaving. It all led back to a weak battery. Even had a stored fault, just like yours. Let me tell you, it wasn't exactly a stroll in the park. Took it to my friendly neighborhood garage, and they had to run a bunch of diagnostics to pin down the problem, but they got there in the end. Turns out my battery had just about given up the ghost and was causing all sorts of odd symptoms. So, they jumped in and swapped out the old battery with a new one. Battery problems can cause all sorts of electrical issues in a car, so there's a good chance that's the root of your issue too. Mechanic's advice: Check the battery and its connections. You might just save yourself from a lot of hassle. Always remember to keep your ride's battery in check. As for the mechanic recommendation, where are you located? It'll be easier to suggest a good one knowing where you're at. Hope this helps!

Hey there, really appreciate your insight. Sounds like our problems are pretty similar. A dodgy battery, huh? That's a relief, at least it's not as heavy as an engine or transmission issue. I'll definitely take your advice and have the battery and its connections checked out. Was just wondering, do you recall roughly how much it set you back to resolve this? Also, have you had any unexpected issues pop up since the battery replacement? Thanks again!

Hey, glad to hear my previous advice struck a chord! When it came to the cost of the battery mess, it ended up being around 290 € for parts and labor. Not exactly pocket change, but a hell of a lot cheaper than an engine or transmission fix! And about your other question - since the battery replacement, everything's been pretty smooth. The best part is the windscreen heater started behaving again. It's been working properly ever since I saw the mechanic, so I reckon that's likely what's playing up in your Lexus too. Knock on wood, I haven't faced any surprise issues since then! So definitely go ahead and get that battery situation sorted - it appears to be a common troublemaker. Good luck!

Hey, what a relief your words have been! The estimated cost doesn't sound too bad considering it solves my current issues and prevents potential future ones. Glad to hear everything's been working well for you since the replacement. It gives me a good amount of encouragement to go down the same route. Can't thank you enough for sharing your experience and advice so generously. I'll follow up in this thread once the issue's sorted. Cheers!
