Hey! Thanks for the quick response! My LX's got 83222 KM under the hood, never missed a service, latest was just a few months back. Everything was alright until these engine symptoms kicked in. We're running on diesel here, no mods or anything. Haven't done a DTC check yet, but it's definitely something I'll be getting onto. You might be onto something with the leaking intake system, I'll make sure to get that checked out. Cheers for the help! Keep it rollin!
Hey Back, No problem, happy to help. Sounds like your Lexus is pretty well maintained. With the diesel engines, despite their good reliability, some issues can occur. Seriously getting that DTC scan is key. Should give you a clearer idea of what's causing the problem. One quick tip on the black smoke on acceleration. It could be a sign of too much diesel being injected into the engine, maybe because of a turbocharger issue. Also, I had another thought about the rough running engine and drop in power. You might want to check your fuel injectors too. In my case, the mechanics discovered the injectors were partly the fault as well. Hope this gives you more ammo for your next trip to the shop. Keep us posted on your progress. Stay safe on the roads!
Hey! Thanks for coming back with more advice. The part about too much diesel being injected and the turbocharger issue make sense. Would explain that black smoke. I’ll definitely note down about checking the fuel injectors. I'll get that DTC scan done, fingers crossed it'll shed light on the issue. Anyway, I’ll take the old girl into the shop and keep you all posted once there's an update. Again, appreciate all the suggestions. Really glad I dropped a line here. Let's keep the rubber on the road! Cheers.
Hey! I can totally relate as I had a similar issue with my '17 Lexus LX, so we're pretty much in the same boat. I'm not an expert on cars but I've got some hands-on experience. When my ride broke down, I took it into my local shop. Turns out, the intake system was leaking. They did a bit of tinkering, replaced a few parts and it was sorted out. Cost me about 425 Euro though. Just a thought, have you done a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) check yet? And can you share more about your LX? Fuel type, mileage, any recent repairs or modifications - every bit helps. The more details, the better the advice you'll get. Cheers!
