Lexus LX Diesel 2021: Check Engine Light, DPF Regeneration Issues, and Ad-Blue System Pressure Problems

Check engine light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

DPF regeneration failure

Hey! I'm seeing an odd problem with my 2021 Lexus LX Diesel that I can't figure out. The check engine light is on, my DPF won't regenerate, and there's a warning light in the speedometer. My guess is it might be something to do with low Ad-Blue system pressure. Has anybody here dealt with something similar and has some tips or advice to offer? What was your experience in getting it sorted out at your workshop? Cheers!

Hey there! I had a funky issue, similar to yours, with my 2013 Lexus IS Diesel. I'd count myself as someone with a bit of experience, but I'm certainly no expert. I came to find out that my Ad-Blue tank was defective, which was a real bother. Ended up taking it to my local technicians to fix it and they did a sterling job. They had to replace the whole Ad-Blue tank, which cost me 1620 Euro. Not exactly pocket change, but it had to be done. Before I suggest anything to you, could you please let me know your mileage? And if you've noticed any difference in your car's performance? Any other issues you've noticed could be helpful too. Let's get this sorted out!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! My Lexus has racked up 66384 km on the odometer. In terms of performance, it's been a bit sluggish recently, especially during cold starts. Also, the engine seems more noisy than usual which is pretty annoying. I did get it serviced lately, but the issues still persist. Honestly hoping it's not as severe as a defective Ad-Blue tank. Will surely check on that though. Appreciate your help! Cheers.

Hey again, no problem, glad to help! You know, with those symptoms and that mileage, it might not be the Ad-Blue system at all. A cold start issue along with a noisy engine could indicate a problem with the glow plugs or injectors. But since you've got the DPF regeneration issue, there's a good chance your DPF is blocked. This can happen if you usually drive short distances, which doesn't allow the DPF to heat up enough to burn off the soot. I'd suggest a garage diagnosis as the first step, especially if you don't usually do long journeys where the engine get's hot enough to burn off the soot in the DPF. If there's nothing wrong with the glow plugs and injectors, get them to thoroughly examine the DPF. Don't worry too much about it. It might be a bit of a pain and could set you back some, but once it's done your Lexus should be back in tip-top shape! Keep us posted with any updates, will ya? Good luck out there!

Hey! I really appreciate your advice! I'm going to head to the garage first thing in the morning and ask them to look into the glow plugs, injectors, and that pesky DPF. I do take a lot of short trips, so your point about the DPF not heating up enough makes a lot of sense. I knew car issues could be complicated, but this is a handful! Fingers crossed it doesn't leave a burning hole in my pocket. I'll keep ya'll posted about any updates. Once again, kudos for the advice! Cheers!
