Lexus CT200h Heating/Cooling Issues and Unusual Blower Activity

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

|

Blower does not work properly

Hey! I'm kind of in a fix with my 2016 Lexus CT200h, gasoline engine, with about 9,248 KM on it. The darn thing's not heating or cooling as it should and the blower's behaving rather oddly as well. I'm leaning towards an issue with the electric auxiliary heater, but I've got some trust issues with mechanics after a recent bad experience. Anyone dealt with something similar? And what was your experience with the repair work? Would appreciate any insights!

Hey there! I totally feel your struggle. I had a similar issue with my 2013 Lexus ES300h not so long ago. The car wasn't keeping the right temperature and the blower was acting strange, much like you described. It turned out, yes, the electric auxiliary heater was the culprit. When I took it to my trusty old garage, they diagnosed the problem pretty quickly, thankfully. After a few tests, they determined that the electric heater was defective. Not exactly a minor issue, but not the end of the world either. They had to replace the whole unit, which required a bit of work. The heater had overheated and malfunctioned, messing with the car's temperature control and blower performance. They warned me that if left unchecked, it might have lead to further complications. So, don't delay getting it checked! Overall, it wasn't an easy fix, but definitely necessary. Hope this helps and good luck with your CT200h!

Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like you hit the nail on the head with my Lexus's situation. Your description is too close to my problem. Out of curiosity, mind sharing what did it cost you to replace that electric auxiliary heater? I'm trying to brace for the hit on my wallet. Also, have you noticed anything else gone sideways since the replacement? Cheers!

Hey, glad my experience could shed some light on your situation. For the electric auxiliary heater replacement, the bill came down to 350€, a bit of a pinch to the pocket, but certainly a necessary fix. Since taking the old girl to the mechanic, she’s been humming like a dream. That malfunction in the electric auxiliary heater was causing all the problems and once it was fixed, everything else fell back into line. So, no other issues to report since the fix was done. Looks like you'll be back on the road soon with your CT200h! Good luck and keep me posted!

Thanks again! Certainly gave me the vision I needed. The expense does sound a bit heavy but considering the potential risk, it definitely seems logical. Good to know your old girl is back in action too. I'm feeling a bit more confident already about getting my CT200h fixed up. I'll give you a shout once it is done. Here goes nothing then! Cheers!
