Yo, dude! Sounds eerily similar to what my went through with his 2016 Lexus CT200h. From what you've described, I'd back up what is hinting at - your issue might stretch beyond a wonky oil temp sensor. Don't mean to be the bearer of gloomy news, but I smell a potential head gasket problem here. His whip showed nearly the same symptoms and to top it off, they found coolant in his engine oil after some investigation. Nasty stuff. Dodged a bullet there 'cause he caught it in time. Almost got himself into some serious engine trouble. Hey, do you recall how much you had to shell out for the fix? And did anything else pop up later connected to this?

Yo, hey there! Yeah, you're right, dude. The whole deal with the mechanic, after digging into the situation, turned out to be a head gasket issue like we suspected. Although the main culprit being the Engine oil temperature sensor was a problem too, it got sorted during the ordeal. Trust me, the relief of knowing that was no longer causing me grief was tremendous. As for the expenses, excluding the blood pressure spikes, I had to part with €52.5 to stabilize the coolant issue. You'd think 'Coolant level too low' was a minor problem, but who knew it could singe a hole in your pocket, right? Since then, fingers crossed, no alarming signs popped up. Last year, I guess, gave me enough adrenaline for a lifetime. With my ride running smooth now, I kinda feel like I won a small lottery. Here's hoping your avoids a major engine meltdown too. Good luck!

I appreciate the insights, gents! Things are clearer now, although I'd say your experiences were quite an eye-opener! I had my suspicions about the sensor initially, but the more I read your responses, the more I sense I need to broaden my horizons on this issue. From what you've shared, it seems like my situation might possibly point towards the dreadful head gasket problem, something I hoped I'd never have to face. But hey, better to face the demon now than to regret later, right?, I must admit, your ordeal sounds horrifying, but your composure through it all is commendable. The fact that your car hasn't troubled you since and is running smooth post-repair does give me a glimmer of hope. I hope my experience won't be as hair-raising as yours! I can resonate with your 's narrative. The analogy of bits of metal in oil being 'nasty stuff', pretty much describes my current feeling. Rest assured, you chaps have convinced me to run my ride down to the mechanic's stat and get this sorted. No point dragging this out any longer. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Really value the helpful advice you boys gave! I'll let you know whatever turns up. Cheers!

Hey there, I'd like to chime in 'cause I had a similar scare with my 2014 Lexus IS300. From your description, I honestly reckon it might be more than just a dodgy Engine oil temperature sensor. Without wanting to freak you out, these symptoms seem a bit characteristic of a potential head gasket problem. Last year, my ride started alarming me with an unduly low coolant level message. Overheating, gunky contamination of coolant, and an abnormally quiet engine were the signs that didn't sit right with me. Turns out, these were all symptoms of a failing head gasket. Not the news you want to hear, but nipping it in the was totally the call. Ignoring the problem would've led to even more catastrophic damage. The mechanic did a compression test, testing for oil and coolant mix, and verified their suspicion. The coolant was indeed getting combusted and then mixed with the oil. I know it's a pain but better to catch it early than regret it later. Get a second opinion and make sure whatever's going wrong is sniffed out and fixed without delay. Good luck with your ride.
