Thanks for sharing that, really helpful info! Had pretty much the same fix done on my Discovery last year. Quick question though, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for that new AGM battery? Also, has everything been running smoothly since, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Just wondering if I should keep an eye out for anything else.

Hey again! Yeah, happy to help! I just had this fixed last month actually, the total bill came to 290.00 € for the new AGM battery and installation. And I'm pleased to say everything's been running like a charm since then! The start-stop system is working perfectly now, and all those annoying electrical gremlins have completely disappeared. Haven't noticed any other issues at all, the engine fires up instantly every time, fuel consumption is back to normal, and those warning lights are gone for good. It's amazing how one failing battery can cause so many weird problems, right? I know you mentioned having similar work done last year, if you're seeing any new symptoms, might be worth getting it checked again. But honestly, once I got that heavy-duty AGM battery installed, my Range Rover Sport has been running exactly as it should. These diesel engines really do need the right battery to handle all their demands. Let me know if anything else comes up, always happy to compare notes with fellow Land Rover owners!

Thanks so much for all that detail! Yeah, I actually went ahead and took my Discovery to a mechanic yesterday, couldn't deal with those issues anymore. Funny enough, they also diagnosed it as a battery problem. Got charged a bit more than you did, but honestly, I'm just relieved it's fixed. The mechanic explained everything clearly and showed me how the old battery wasn't holding enough charge. They fitted a new AGM battery, and wow, what a difference! The car starts like a dream now, all those weird electrical issues are gone, and the start-stop system works perfectly again. It's such a relief to have it sorted. Just took it for a long drive today and everything's running smoothly. Guess we both learned that when these modern diesels start acting up, checking the battery first isn't a bad idea! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, helped me feel more confident about getting it fixed. Thanks again!

Hey there! I had nearly identical issues with my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport diesel at around 165,000 KM. Started with similar symptoms, inconsistent starting, electrical glitches, and the start-stop system failing. Turned out my battery was severely degraded. These diesel engines are pretty demanding on batteries, especially with all the modern electronics and start-stop systems. My original battery didn't handle the load anymore, which caused cascading issues with other systems. Had it checked at the garage and the voltage test confirmed the battery was well below spec. They installed a higher-capacity AGM battery designed specifically for diesel engines with start-stop systems. Fixed all the issues, proper starts, normal fuel consumption, and no more warning lights. It wasn't a major repair, but definitely not something to ignore as it can affect multiple systems. If you're getting these symptoms, I'd suggest getting the battery tested soon. Better to address it early than risk getting stranded somewhere. Just my experience with a similar situation.
