Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know I'm not alone with these electrical gremlins. My symptoms sound exactly like what you had with your Range Rover Sport. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the sensor replacement and reprogramming set you back? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up? Cheers!
Hey again! Happy to update you! I actually just got my Discovery back from the mechanic last week, they fixed that pesky battery sensor issue, and it cost me exactly 315.00 € to sort out the faulty microprocessor and get everything reprogrammed. I'm really pleased to report that everything's running like a dream now! No more flickering lights, no more struggling to start, and all those annoying electrical quirks have completely disappeared. It's honestly like having a different car, starts first time, every time. Looking back, I probably should've gotten it fixed sooner, but you know how it goes with these things. The mechanic mentioned that these sensors can be quite tricky to diagnose, but once they're fixed properly, they usually stay fixed. Just make sure you find a mechanic who knows their way around Land Rover electrical systems, it makes a huge difference. Mine was worth every penny spent. Let me know if you decide to get it checked out, would be interested to hear if you're dealing with the same issue! Cheers!
Thanks so much for all the details! Actually, I bit the bullet and took my Discovery to a new mechanic yesterday. You wouldn't believe it, it was exactly the same issue! The battery sensor was shot, just like yours. Got it all fixed up for about 300€, which seems pretty reasonable considering what a headache these electrical problems were causing. The mechanic was really thorough, explained everything, and even showed me the faulty part. Started her up this morning and wow, what a difference! No more flickering lights, and she fired up instantly. Should've done this weeks ago instead of worrying about it. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it sorted. Funny how these Land Rovers can have such similar quirks! Thanks again for all your help! Take care!
Hey there! I had almost identical issues with my 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Diesel. The symptoms were exactly like yours, flickering lights and struggling to start, especially after short trips. Turned out my battery sensor microprocessor was failing. Had it checked at the garage last month, the diagnostic showed the sensor wasn't correctly reading the battery's charge state, causing the charging system to malfunction. The mechanics replaced the battery sensor unit and recalibrated the system. It wasn't a minor fix since they had to reprogram the new sensor to communicate properly with the vehicle's electrical system. But once fixed, all the electrical gremlins disappeared, and the car's been starting perfectly since. If your symptoms match mine, I'd definitely get the battery sensor checked out. These issues tend to get worse if left unattended and could potentially leave you stranded. Cheers
