Lancer Nav System Dead: Owner Seeks Help

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey there, I've got a 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer (gas engine) with about 55K km on it. My nav system recently stopped working, and I think it might be some kind of communication error between the control units. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar nav system issues in their Minicab? What was the actual problem and where did you get it fixed? Would really appreciate some advice! Thanks!

Hey! I can relate to this! I had a similar issue with my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander last year. The nav system went completely dead, and turns out it was indeed a CAN BUS communication problem. The main issue was damaged wiring harness between the head unit and the vehicle's main communication network. Had it fixed at a certified Mitsubishi dealer since these communication systems are pretty complex. They had to replace part of the wiring harness and reprogram the head unit. It was definitely not a DIY job, these digital communication networks are crucial for modern cars and need proper diagnostic tools to fix. In my case, it was a serious issue that took two days to sort out because they had to trace the exact location of the break in communication. If your symptoms are similar (complete nav failure, no response), it's likely the same type of problem. I'd suggest going to a Mitsubishi specialist who has experience with these electronic systems. Regular mechanics often don't have the right diagnostic equipment for these specific issues.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, my symptoms sound pretty similar to what you described. I'm thinking about taking it to a Mitsubishi dealer too, glad to hear theyaged to sort it out for you. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much it set you back? And has everything been working smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?

Hey again! Yeah, I totally get your concern about the costs. I actually just had mine fixed last month, the total came to 235€, which included diagnosing and fixing that pesky CAN BUS issue. Since then, my nav system has been working like a charm, no more error messages about communication problems between the control devices. I'm super relieved because these electronic gremlins can be really frustrating! I gotta say, going to the Mitsubishi dealer was definitely the right call for me. They knew exactly what they were dealing with, and the investment was worth it for the peace of mind. My system's been running perfectly smooth since the repair, no weird glitches or quirks at all. If your symptoms are anything like what I experienced, I'd say go for it and get it checked out at the dealer. Better to fix it properly now than have it cause more problems down the road, you know what I mean? Plus, these communication system issues can sometimes affect other car functions if left unchecked.

Thanks so much for the detailed info! I actually ended up taking your advice and went to the Mitsubishi dealer last week. You were right, it was totally worth it! They found a similar wiring issue and fixed it for about 250€. The whole thing took them about a day and a half. What a relief to have it working properly again! The nav system's back up and running perfectly now. The dealer even showed me what was wrong, there was some damaged wiring that was messing with the communication between systems. Better yet, they gave me a one-year warranty on the repair. Really glad I didn't try to cheap out or have a regular mechanic fiddle with it. These electronic issues definitely need proper expertise. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, you saved me from probably making an expensive mistake by going to the wrong place! Catch you later!
