L200's False TPMS Alerts: Real Issue or Faulty Sensors?

Tire pressure to low

Hey everyone! My 2015 Mitsubishi L200 diesel keeps showing low tire pressure warnings, even though I've checked and filled all tires to correct pressure. I suspect the TPMS might be faulty. Has anyone dealt with this issue? Would love to know what the actual problem was and how your mechanic fixed it. Also, what was the repair cost like? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Mitsubishi Pajero diesel last year (I have some experience working on cars, but mainly basic maintenance stuff). The symptoms were exactly the same, constant low pressure warnings despite properly inflated tires. Turned out the TPMS antennas were shot. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quick. Total repair cost was around 255€ for replacing the faulty antennas. What's strange is that this seems to be a common issue with some Mitsubishi models from that era. Before replacing anything though, what's the mileage on your L200? Also, have you noticed if the warnings come up more frequently when it's cold outside? This could help narrow down if it's the same problem I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm currently at 103092 KM and just had my service last month. The warning does seem to pop up more in cold weather, now that you mention it. It's super annoying because I keep checking the pressure manually and everything seems fine. This cost estimate helps a lot, I was worried it might be something way more expensive. I'll get it checked out at my local shop. Good to know it might just be the antennas rather than something more serious. Thanks for the tip!

No worries! Yeah, that cold weather connection definitely confirms my suspicions. Had the exact same thing with my Pajero at around 98,000 KM. Just a heads up, when I first got the antennas replaced, the warning actually came back after about a week. Turned out they needed to do a proper TPMS reset and recalibration. Make sure your shop does that too, or you might end up going back for a second visit like I did! Since you've just had your service, might be worth mentioning this to the same garage, they might even give you a better deal since you're a regular. Mine initially quoted me 300€ but knocked it down to 255€ because I'm a loyal customer. Keep us posted on how it goes! These Mitsubishis are great cars overall, just seem to have this weird TPMS quirk in these model years.

Thanks so much for the extra advice! That's super helpful about the reset and recalibration, definitely wouldn't have known to ask about that. I'll actually call my regular garage tomorrow and mention everything you've said. They've always been fair with pricing, so hopefully I can get a decent deal too. Will definitely update this thread once it's sorted! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and all these details. It's such a relief knowing it's just a common issue and not something major. These L200s really are solid trucks otherwise, wouldn't trade mine for anything else!
