Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was just the cable connection in your case. If you don't mind me asking what did you end up paying for the fix? And has everything stayed working properly since then? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if it's likely to be a long-term solution.

Hey again! Happy to update you! After getting it fixed at my mechanic about a year ago, I haven't had a single issue with the key fob it's been working like a charm. The repair set me back 260€, which included the labor for removing the bumper parts to access the connection. Honestly, it was worth every penny considering how frustrating those unusual key fob failures were! Since seeing my mechanic back then, the antenna problem was completely resolved. They found the cable connection to the bumper antenna was indeed defective, just as we suspected. They cleaned it up properly and secured everything back in place. Let me tell you, it's such a relief not having to do that awkward dance of walking around the car, pointing the key fob in different directions hoping it'll work! My 2008 M35 is still going strong, and the remote works perfectly every single time now, whether I'm right next to the car or 30 feet away. If you're experiencing the same symptoms I did, it's likely the same issue and should be a straightforward fix. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. You were spot on it was the antenna connection issue. Found a reliable shop through a 's recommendation, and they fixed it for around 290€. A bit more than what you paid, but I guess prices have gone up since last year. The whole process was pretty smooth. Dropped the car off in the morning, and they called me a few hours later saying they found the corroded connection, cleaned it up, and secured everything properly. They even showed me the old connection when I picked up the car it was definitely in rough shape! Just tested the key fob from various distances and angles, and it's working perfectly now. Such a relief not having to do that awkward key fob dance anymore! Really appreciate you sharing your experience it helped me know exactly what to expect and gave me confidence that I wasn't getting taken for a ride at the shop. Now I can finally stop worrying about getting locked out of my car! Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2008 Infiniti M35 last year. The intermittent key fob problem turned out to be exactly what you're suspecting the antenna cable connection in the front bumper. The symptoms were identical; sometimes the remote would work from 30 feet away, other times I'd be standing right next to the car and nothing. Took it to my regular mechanic and they diagnosed a loose/corroded cable connection to the antenna. It wasn't a major repair just needed to clean the connection points and secure the cable properly. The antenna itself was fine. It's actually a pretty common issue with these models as they age. Since fixing it, my key fob has been working consistently. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with Infiniti electrical systems, as accessing the antenna connection requires removing some bumper components. Hope this helps!
