Key fob problems with the 2014 Peugeot 408 - Suspected antenna problems in the bumper

Key fob issues

Hi guys, I have a question regarding my 2014 Peugeot 408 with gasoline engine and almost 66,257 KM on the clock. The thing is that I am having problems with my key fob. I think it might be due to a faulty antenna in the bumper. Have any of you had similar experiences and how was the visit to the garage? I didn't have a good experience last time and would be happy if you could share your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2011 Peugeot 407. It turned out that the Comfort Access control unit was defective. I noticed that the central locking system was not working properly and that the key was often not recognized. When I went to the garage at the time, the mechanics immediately made a diagnosis based on these symptoms. They replaced the entire control unit, which indicated a fairly serious issue. It was not a simple repair. But since then the problem has been solved and the car is working again without any problems. Hope this helps you with your problem. Good luck!

Hello, thank you very much for your reply! My problem sounds really similar to yours back then. It's annoying when the technology fails. Can you remember the cost of the repair? And has everything been running smoothly with your vehicle since then, or have there been other problems? Thank you very much!

Hello, sure, I still remember the costs well. I actually paid €600 to replace the faulty Comfort Access control unit. It wasn't exactly cheap, but after the repair everything ran like clockwork again. And regarding your question about the aerial in the bumper: it was also defective when I visited the mechanic, but is now back in order. Apart from that, I haven't had any other problems since. I hope that helps you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Hello, thank you very much for the detailed information! 600 sounds like a lot of money at first, but if it can fix all the problems, it's definitely worth it. It's also good to hear that you haven't had any further problems since. I'll take that as a good omen for my upcoming workshop visit. I'll report back on how it went. Thanks again for your help!
