Thanks for sharing your experience. I had very similar symptoms with my Patriot last year when the throttle body started acting up. The check engine light kept coming on and the car felt like it was dragging. Would you mind sharing what the replacement cost was in your case? Also curious if youve had any other issues pop up since the repair. Its been about 8 months since mine was fixed and its running smoothly, but always good to know what to watch out for.

Glad I could help with the initial info. The throttle valve issue was definitely fixed at my last mechanic visit, and the car has been running perfectly since then. The total came to 265 Euro for the accelerator pedal module electronics repair, which was actually less than I expected. After 18 months of trouble-free driving, my fuel efficiency has remained stable and the check engine light hasnt returned. The air intake system is working as it should, with no more hesitation or power loss issues. One thing I learned, getting it fixed by a qualified technician was worth every cent. No more limp mode episodes or performance problems since the repair. The initial diagnosis was spot-on, saving time and preventing unnecessary parts replacement.

Thanks for the follow up. After dealing with this issue myself, I finally took it to a mechanic last week. The check engine light was my wake up call, and the sluggish engine performance was getting worse by the day. My repair came to 290 Euro total, a bit more than yours but still reasonable. The mechanic found the air flow sensor was also slightly damaged, which explained the inconsistent engine idling I was experiencing. The whole repair took about 3 hours, including testing. Watching the mechanic work, I could see why DIY wasnt a good option for this fix. The throttle body needed proper calibration after installation. Car runs like new now, no more power issues or warning lights. Definitely worth the cost to get it done right the first time.

Had this exact issue on a 2015 Jeep Compass. The symptoms match perfectly, sluggish acceleration, check engine light, and inconsistent throttle response delay. The main problem was the electronic throttle body sensor, which affected both air flow and engine performance. When it starts failing, the car often goes into limp mode as a safety measure. The throttle position sensor inside the assembly was defective, causing erratic readings to the ECU. The repair required replacing the entire throttle body unit since the sensor is integrated. A certified mechanic needed about 2 hours for diagnostics and replacement. This was a serious issue that required immediate attention, driving with a faulty throttle sensor can leave you stranded or cause further engine damage. Some shops might suggest cleaning the throttle body first, but in my experience with this particular fault, cleaning rarely fixes electronic throttle sensor issues. The repair brought back the proper throttle response and resolved all performance problems permanently. Make sure to get the new throttle body programmed to your vehicle after installation. Poor programming can cause rough idle and continuing performance issues.
