Thanks for sharing your experience with the ABS control unit replacement. I dealt with similar speedometer and ABS issues on my Cherokee last summer. The symptoms match exactly what you described, intermittent warning lights and poor traction control. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was for your case? Just curious how it compares, since prices can vary quite a bit. Also wondering if youve had any recurring issues since the repair was completed?

Since getting the repair done, my Compass has been running perfectly with no speedometer or ABS issues. The ECM now shows no error codes and the speed signal fault that was causing the warning lights has been completely resolved. The total repair cost came to 1000 Euro for the affected control unit replacement, including parts and labor. This covered the complete diagnostic testing, unit replacement, and system recalibration. The investment was worth it considering the safety implications of driving with malfunctioning ABS. The traction control and overall braking performance have been solid even in challenging road conditions. No recurring issues or warning lights since the fix was completed six months ago. If your symptoms are matching, I would say its worth addressing the problem properly to avoid any safety risks, even though the repair cost is significant.

I finally took my Cherokee to the shop last week after reading these responses. The diagnostic scan confirmed it was indeed the ABS control unit causing the problems. The mechanic found similar moisture-related damage in the unit circuitry. Total repair cost came to 950 Euro, which included: Full system diagnostic, New ABS control unit, Installation and calibration, Speed sensor testing The dashboard warning lights are now completely gone and the ABS works perfectly. The traction control feels much more responsive, especially on wet roads. The speedometer is also working consistently now. The odometer readings are accurate again, which was another small issue I had noticed before. The ECM shows no more error codes and the mechanic did a thorough test drive to confirm everything was working properly. While the cost was significant, the improved safety and performance make it worthwhile. No more worrying about compromised braking performance.

Last month had similar symptoms on my 2019 Jeep Compass Diesel. The dashboard warning lights for ABS kept flashing intermittently and the traction control was unreliable. After diagnostic testing, it turned out the ABS control unit was defective, not just a sensor malfunction. The ECM was showing multiple error codes related to the ABS system. The control unit had internal circuit damage, likely from moisture exposure. This was a serious issue requiring complete unit replacement. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan, Removal of old control unit, Installation of new ABS control unit, System recalibration, Testing of all wheel speed sensors The repair took about 4 hours at the shop. Worth noting that driving with faulty ABS is unsafe, especially in wet conditions, as it compromises vehicle stability and braking performance. Would recommend getting a proper diagnostic scan first, sensor issues are more common and less costly to fix than full control unit failure. But given your symptoms match what I experienced, prepare for possible control unit replacement.
