Issues with Check Engine Light, Reduced Power, Elevated Fuel Consumption, Exhaust Smell, and Rough Idling in 2023 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Model

Strong exhaust smell

Loss of engine power

Poor fuel economy

Shaking while idling

Check engine light on

Hey folks, I've got a tricky issue with my 2023 Seat Tarraco, Gasoline model. Recently noticed the check engine light's been on and there has been a noticeable drop in engine power. I've also seen my fuel consumption shoot up, and there's a pretty strong exhaust smell. Oh, and let's not forget, it's been shaking at idle too. Wondering if it could be related to the engine running rough? Anyone experienced anything similar? How did your workshop deal with it and what was your experience like? Any tip or guidance would be super helpful.

Hey there, dude! I had a similar situation with my 2021 Seat Ateca (Petrol), so not far off from your Tarraco. Now, I'm no mechanic but I've some experience handling basic car stuff, you know? What happened with my Ateca was that it turned out to have defective injectors. The engine light on the dash was my first clue, just like your case, and performance was pretty shaky too. I took my ride to my regular workshop and they immediately picked up on the problem. Cool dudes, they are. Long story short, had to fork out €515.00 to replace the injectors. Not a fun day for my wallet but my Ateca was back to its prime, no more engine light or bad smells and shakes. Given your situation, she might be going through the same. However, would you mind sharing the mileage and last maintenance information? It might help in figuring this out better. Trust me, we've all been there, and I hope this helps put you on the right track.

Hey! Your experience with your Ateca hitting the bump sounds super similar. My Tarraco's racked up exactly 91119 km on the odometer. The last service? Well, believe it or not, I treated her to a full servicing just a scant month ago. So, assuming that my workshop did its job right (fairly certain they did, those guys are pros), I've got to believe it's something more than just regular wear and tear. Your remark about potential defective injectors rings a bell; I'll sure get that looked into - better safe than sorry, right? Definitely wouldn't want my ride smelling like a gas station all the time, haha! But hey, thanks for the tip and sharing your experience. Appreciated!

Hello again! Wow, 91119 km already? Your Tarraco has seen some journey, hasn't it? About the servicing, sounds like your fellows at the garage surely kept things in check, kudos to them! But yeah, cars can throw a curveball when you least expect it. Absolutely agree on the "better safe than sorry" part. Given what you’ve said, you're onto something with the idea about potentially defective fuel injectors. And who'd want their precious ride behaving like an old horse, eh? If it does turn out to be the injectors, those symptoms will clear up once they're replaced. Really one of those "night and day" differences. Make sure to double-check with your pros, and do keep us posted. Crossing my fingers it won't be too rough on your wallet! And no worries. Always a pleasure to share info from personal experience - we're in this together! Happy motoring!

Hello again and thanks so much for the reassurance! I feel more hopeful already and will definitely bring up the fuel injector concern in my next garage visit. It's definitely been quite a journey with my Tarraco, and I hope to have her fully on her feet soon enough. The community here is incredible, and it's comforting to know that I'm not alone in facing these problems. Thanks for all your help! Safe driving and catch you around!
