Issues with 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid Key Fob Possibly Due to Antenna Fault

Key fob issues

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I'm currently dealing with an issue with my 2021 Lexus NX Hybrid (mileage around 177,661 km). It seems my key fob is playing up, and I have a feeling it could be a fault with the antenna in the bumper. Just had a less-than-stellar experience with a previous mechanic, so a bit wary this time around. Anyone experienced something similar and had to get this fixed? Would really appreciate hearing how your mechanic handled it and if there were any issues with the repair. Cheers!

Hey there, I totally hear you, had a similar issue with my 2018 Lexus ES Hybrid not too long ago (crazy coincidence, eh?). Started having issues with my key fob, and after some investigation, turns out the culprit was indeed a bad cable connection to the bumper antenna. Just like you, I was pointed in the bumper direction. My mechanic was ace, though, located the issue efficiently. The good part, it wasn't a big deal as much as it was annoying. You know, it's not something critical but it can drive you mad when your key fob starts having a mind of its own. The repair part wasn't so tricky either. They basically replaced the defective cable that was causing the issue. Took about an afternoon's work. But do remember, my car might be a 2018 model, so your 2021 model might differ, but the cable issues typically fall under the same umbrella. Nice talking to ya, hope this helps give you some direction. Good luck sorting it out! Cheers!

Hey! That does sound strikingly similar to what I'm dealing with! I'm honestly relieved to know I'm not the only one experiencing this cable connection problem with a Lexus. Curious little bugger, isn't it? Really glad to hear you got it sorted without too much fuss. A quick fix is just what I'm hoping for. By chance, do you recall around how much you forked out for the repair? And since then, everything's been smooth sailing with the key fob, or did any other weird things crop up related to it? Cheers for the help, much appreciated!

Hey there! Ah, the infamous Lexus bumper antenna saga, right? Like I said before, a real bugger. After I had my car checked out, we indeed managed to trace it back to the defective cable. The cost to fix this pesky issue ended up being about 260€. Not exactly pocket change, but I'd say it's worth it for the peace of mind. Since then, I'm glad to report that it's all been smooth sailing and the key fob has been behaving itself nicely. So far, no weird glitches or any other bumps in the road related to it. Let's hope it stays that way! Good luck with your mechanic visit. Let me know how it goes! Cheers!

Hey! Brilliant, that's reassuring to hear that it wasn't a reoccurring issue for you! Sounds like it's worth a repair for sure at 260€, though indeed, not exactly what I'd call cheap. But as you said, peace of mind is priceless. I'm genuinely grateful for your help and sharing your own experience. It's definitely calmed my nerves about having to handle this with a new mechanic. Fingers crossed it'll be as trouble-free as it was for you! I'll follow up and let you know how it goes. Thanks again and cheers!
