Key fob issues

Hey motorheads! I could really use some advice about my 2015 Hyundai Mistra (gasoline edition) with 67,856 km on the old odometer. Recently, I've run into some issues with the fob not working properly, locking/unlocking being a tad glitchy and a mysterious warning light on my dash. I had a pretty crappy stint with a mechanic last time around, so I'm hoping someone could help me out here. Could it be as simple as an empty battery in the ignition key? Anyone else had similar adventures with their car and what did your mechanic do? Appreciate any insight you folks can offer!

Hey there! I've got a 2018 Hyundai Elantra and I had pretty much the identical problem not too long ago. Just like your symptoms, the fob was acting up and a weird warning light came on. Turned out it was indeed the battery in the key that had run empty. Didn't take much for the mechanic to than swap out the old battery for a new one. I'd say it's not a serious issue, it's just the car letting you know that it needs a new battery. It's not anything you need to lose sleep over. I had no problems with the car since the battery replacement. Hope this helps!

Hey, great to know I'm not the only one! Your experience sounds just like mine, right down to the unnerving warning light. I might just cross my fingers and hope swapping the battery out is all it needs. By the way, do you remember how much it set you back to get the battery replaced? And have you come across any similar issues, or anything else noteworthy since then? Cheers for the advice!

Hey! Glad my experience could give you some peace of mind. The battery replacement for the key set me back 37.5€, which I reckon isn't too steep considering it tackled the issue straight on. No similar glitches have hit me since the mechanic sorted the ignition key out. Just smooth sailing and great rides from there on. Happy motoring!

Awesome! It's big relief hearing it's a simple fix, and that price certainly isn't too bad at all. I'll get onto the mechanic right away and hopefully my Hyundai will be back to its best in no time. Your insights are hugely helpful! Drive safe and keep enjoying those smooth rides! Cheers.
