Irregular gear shifting and noises in Skoda Octavia 2010

One morning on the way to work, it suddenly started shifting gears in a strange way and there was a whining or grinding noise. At first I thought it was the gear selection indicator, but when I went to the mechanic it turned out that the gearbox was faulty. That was a pretty serious problem, I have to say. The mechanic said it took a while and he had to take the whole gearbox out and check it. To be honest, it wasn't a quick repair. But since the last visit to the garage, the car has been running like a charm again. Hopefully my experience will help you a bit. As for the cost of the repair, it wasn't exactly peanuts. It cost me around €222 to fix the faulty plug connection. But believe me, the car was back in top condition afterwards.
