Hey there, sounds like I've got myself a similar issue with your past predicament! Really appreciate you sharing this in-depth explanation - makes it easier to understand what's going on with my Ioniq 5. By any chance, do you recall how much you ended up shelling out for the new auxiliary battery and the charging system check? Also, just out of curiosity, have you faced any further troubles with your Kona EV since you had the battery issue sorted? Thanks in advance.
Hey again, glad my previous explanation helped shed some light! I remember spending around 110.00 € to get that pesky emergency call system battery problem fixed. It seems quite steep, but thinking about the potential mess it could have caused if left ignored, I'd say it was money well spent. As for further troubles with my Kona EV since the auxiliary battery issue, well, it's been smooth sailing! I haven't had any other major issues since the mechanic gave it a clean bill of health. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Keep me posted on how it goes with your Ioniq 5!
Hello again! Thank you for the heads up - it's a bit of a relief to know what I might be in for. Aha, 110.00 € does seem like a fair bit of pocket change, but I reckon it's a small price to pay compared to a complete breakdown. Great to hear that your Kona is running smoothly without any extra hassle. Gives me hope for my Ioniq 5 after getting this auxiliary battery issue sorted. Well, guess it's time to take my dear car to the mechanic. I'll keep you posted! Appreciate all your help. Cheers!
Hey! I have a 2018 Hyundai Kona EV and went through something similar last year. Had around 95k km on the clock and noticed dimming lights and a sluggish startup. Turns out, it was a weak auxiliary battery. In electric vehicles like ours, there's a smaller 12V battery that powers systems like lights and infotainment when the car's not running. When that goes down, you see symptoms like what you've described. I remember the mechanic explained it quite right - the more systems you've got running off that battery, the quicker it'll drain. So yeah, the problem is serious, but thankfully it wasn't related to the main drive battery. When I got mine fixed, they swapped out the auxiliary battery and checked the charging systems, just to be sure everything was up to snuff. Hope this helps, good luck with yours!
