Emergency system without function

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Had almost the exact same thing happen with my Insignia. Really helpful to hear about the antenna and speaker unit, makes a lot of sense now. Could you let me know what the final bill came to? Also, curious if you've had any other problems with the system since they fixed it? Just trying to figure out what I'm in for cost-wise and if it's likely to be a one-and-done repair. Cheers!
Hey again! Just wanted to update you on the repair costs since you asked. The whole thing came to 305.00 € at the dealer's garage, which was mainly for the speaker replacement in the roof console. I know it's not cheap, but at least it sorted out the problem completely. The good news is that since getting it fixed, the emergency call system has been working perfectly, no more warning lights or issues at all! It's been a real relief, to be honest. Seems like it was definitely a one-time fix, so you shouldn't have to worry about recurring problems. My Astra's been running smooth as silk since then, and honestly, I'm glad I went with the dealer on this one. Even though they're usually a bit pricier, they really knew what they were doing with these electronic systems. Worth every penny for the peace of mind, if you ask me! Hope this helps with your decision making. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair!
Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the dealer's garage myself. Took your advice and went straight to them instead of trying my luck with unusual mechanics. Funny enough, my repair was pretty similar to yours, around 320€ for the whole job. They found the same issue with the antenna module and speaker unit. The mechanic was super professional and explained everything clearly. Even showed me the old parts that needed replacing. The whole thing took about 4 hours, but they gave me a courtesy car so it wasn't a hassle at all. Just picked it up this afternoon and everything's working perfectly now, no more annoying warning lights! Really appreciate everyone's help on this. Definitely saved me from wasting time and money at my old mechanic's place. Sometimes it's worth paying a bit extra to get things done right the first time! Cheers!
I had a similar issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Astra last month. The emergency call system warning light started flashing out of nowhere. Took it to the dealer's garage since my regular mechanic wasn't familiar with these electronic systems. Turned out the antenna module was faulty and the speaker unit in the roof console needed replacing. They also had to reprogram the system after installing the new parts. It wasn't a critical safety issue for driving, but obviously important to have a working emergency call system. The whole repair took about half a day. From what I understand, this is a known issue with some Vauxhall models from that era. I'd recommend going to a Vauxhall specialist or authorized dealer for this one, they have the right diagnostic tools and know these systems well.
