Thanks for sharing your experience! You're spot on, it does sound similar to what I'm experiencing. My Insignia's at 132,814 KM and had its last service about 3 months ago. I'll definitely check the Ad-Blue level first thing tomorrow. The odd thing is I haven't seen any specific Ad-Blue warning messages, which usually come up when it's running low. But I guess it's worth a shot before diving into more complex issues. Just wondering, did your warning lights clear up immediately after the top-up, or did it take some driving around? Cheers!
Hey again! Ah yes, that is a bit strange that you're not seeing the Ad-Blue warnings. On my Astra, I always got those annoying low-level warnings well before any other lights came on. But these systems can be quirky sometimes! To answer your question, after the top-up, it took about 15-20 minutes of driving before all the warnings cleared up. The mechanic told me this is pretty normal as the system needs some time to recognize the new fluid level and reset itself. You know what though, since you mentioned you haven't seen any Ad-Blue warnings, maybe get them to check the Ad-Blue level sensors too. I had a whose sensors went faulty and showed similar symptoms. Could be worth looking into if the simple top-up doesn't sort it. By the way, I see you're at 132K km, that's about where mine was when this happened. These cars are pretty reliable overall, but they do get a bit more temperamental with the emissions system around this mileage. Keep us posted on what you find out! Cheers, Mike
Thanks again, Mike, really appreciate all the detailed info! That's good to know about the clearing time for the warnings. I'll definitely keep that in mind and won't panic if they don't disappear straight away after topping up. And thanks for the heads-up about the sensors, I'll mention that to my mechanic when I take it in. I've actually just called my local Vauxhall specialist and booked it in for tomorrow morning. They seemed to think your suggestion about the Ad-Blue and sensors makes sense, especially given the mileage. Fingers crossed it's something as straightforward as what you experienced! I'll update the thread once I know what the actual issue was, might help someone else with similar problems down the line. Thanks again for all your help! Cheers!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Astra diesel last year (I have some experience working on cars, but nothing too fancy). The symptoms were exactly the same as what you're describing. Turned out it was indeed the Ad-Blue, these systems can be pretty sensitive! Took it to my local workshop, and they confirmed the Ad-Blue was critically low. They topped it up, reset the warnings, and everything went back to normal. The whole thing cost me about 65€. Pretty straightforward fix, thankfully! Which trim level is your Insignia? And how many miles has it done? Just asking because there might be other maintenance items to keep an eye on at certain mileage points. Best regards, Mike
