Thanks for sharing that! Mine's the 2.0L diesel version with 103553 KM on the clock. Had my last service about 3 months ago, and everything was fine until now. Your experience sounds pretty spot-on with what I'm dealing with. Did your mechanic mention anything about other potential causes to look out for? I'm hoping it's just the sensor like in your case, but want to be prepared if it turns out to be something else. Really appreciate the heads up about the repair costs too, gives me a good idea of what to expect.
Hey again! Yeah, mine's also a 2.0L diesel, weird coincidence! When I had this issue, my car had about 98000 KM on it. Like I mentioned before, the air temp sensor fixed it for me, but my mechanic did check a few other things while he was at it. He actually told me these symptoms could also be caused by a clogged air filter, faulty MAF sensor, or even fuel injector issues. But in my case, once they replaced the intake air temp sensor, everything went back to normal. The jerking during acceleration, which was driving me nuts, completely disappeared. Quick tip though, when I first noticed these issues, I tried cleaning the sensor myself with some electrical contact cleaner (didn't work, but might save you some money if you want to try). Just make sure you get a proper diagnosis before throwing parts at it. My Astra's been running like a dream for the past year since the fix. Let me know how it goes with yours! Always interested to hear if others have the same experience with their Vauxhalls.
Thanks so much for all that detailed info! That's really helpful to know about the other potential causes too. I actually have some electrical contact cleaner in the garage, so I might give that a try first before heading to the mechanic, nothing to lose, right? I've booked it in at my local garage for next Tuesday, so I'll definitely let you know what they find. Fingers crossed it's just the sensor like yours was! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, especially since our cars are so similar. This has made me feel a lot better about the whole situation. Thanks again!
Hey there! I've got some experience with cars (not a pro, but I've dealt with my share of issues). Had a very similar problem with my 2017 Vauxhall Astra diesel last year. Same symptoms, check engine light, rough running, and terrible fuel economy. Turned out it was indeed the intake air temperature sensor. Took it to my local workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. Total bill was around 155€ for parts and labor. Fixed the issue completely, car's been running smooth since then. By the way, which engine variant does your Insignia have? That would help me know if it's exactly the same setup as mine. Just want to make sure we're comparing apples to apples here. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more details.
