Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine are working intermittently sometimes they'll start up fine, other times they just twitch or don't respond at all. The warning light is the standard wiper system warning (yellow symbol). Last service was just two months ago, and I'm at 51928 KM. Interesting that you mention weather exposure we've had a pretty wet season here, so that could definitely be a factor. Might be worth checking those cable connections first before replacing any parts. Did your mechanic have to take apart the whole wiper assembly to fix the wiring?
Hey again! Happy to help out with more info about my experience. Yeah, what you're describing sounds exactly like what I went through. The intermittent behavior and that same yellow warning light it's like déjà vu! To answer your question: my mechanic didn't have to take apart the entire wiper assembly, thankfully. They mainly focused on the wiring connections near the firewall (that's the panel between your engine bay and the cabin). In my case, they first checked the usual suspects the relay and motor but then found the corroded wiring was the real troublemaker. To be honest, it was a relief because I was worried it might be something more expensive, like the whole wiper motor assembly. Quick tip from my experience: while they're in there fixing it, get them to apply some water-resistant sealant around the connections. After my repair, my mechanic did this as a preventive measure, and I haven't had any issues since, even with all the rain we've been getting lately. Given that your car's pretty similar to mine and you're also dealing with wet weather, I'd bet you're facing the same issue. Just make sure to mention the intermittent behavior to your mechanic that was a key detail in diagnosing mine correctly. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I'll definitely mention the intermittent behavior and ask about those wiring connections near the firewall when I take it in. The water-resistant sealant tip is pure gold definitely gonna request that to prevent future issues. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, especially about the specific location of the wiring. Feels much better going to the mechanic with some idea of what might be wrong instead of walking in blind. I'll book it in tomorrow and update this thread once I know what the actual problem was. Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I've got some experience with cars, nothing too fancy but I've dealt with similar issues. Had the same problem with my 2011 Infiniti FX Diesel last winter. The wipers were acting crazy and that annoying warning light kept bugging me. Took it to my regular workshop, and turns out it was just a faulty cable connection that was causing all the drama. Paid around 155€ to get it sorted they had to fix some corroded wiring and clean up the connections. Quick question though are your wipers completely dead, or are they just working intermittently? Also, which warning light exactly are you seeing on the dash? This info would help me tell if it's the same issue I had. If it helps, my mechanic said this is pretty common in Infinitis of that age, especially if they've been exposed to lots of rain or snow.
