Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the battery being the culprit. You just saved me from potentially going down a rabbit hole with more complex electrical issues. Did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole thing? Also, has everything been working fine since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up?
Hey again! Glad I could help! Just wanted to update you I actually got this fixed last week and it cost me 290€ in total for the battery replacement. The mechanic did a thorough job and ran all the electrical diagnostics to make sure everything was good to go. The best part? The heated windscreen is now working perfectly again! Since getting the new battery installed, all the electrical systems have been running smoothly. No more warning lights or quirks to report. It's amazing how many issues a weak battery can cause definitely worth checking this first before looking into more complicated problems. My QX has been running like a charm since then. Really happy I didn't waste time and money exploring other potential issues. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one! Let me know if you need any other info about getting it fixed!
Thanks so much for the follow-up! I actually just got back from the mechanic today, and you were spot on! Took it to AutoMax on 5th Street they diagnosed it as a battery issue too. Ended up paying 310€ for everything, including the diagnostics and a new battery. A bit more than I expected, but way better than what I was fearing it might cost! The funny thing is, they showed me my old battery and it looked perfectly fine on the outside, but the tests showed it was barely holding 40% charge. No wonder the heated windshield wasn't working! They also cleaned up the terminals while they were at it, which was a nice bonus. Everything's working great now heated windshield, all the electronics, even my radio presets that kept resetting themselves (turns out that was related too). Really appreciate you sharing your experience saved me from stressing out over potentially bigger problems. Sometimes the simplest fixes are the best ones! Take care!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2012 Infiniti M30d last winter. The heated windshield problem turned out to be connected to a weak battery in my case. When I took it to the garage, they found that the battery wasn't holding enough charge to power all the auxiliary systems properly. They did a full electrical system check and discovered the alternator was working fine, but the battery had degraded significantly. Got it sorted with a new battery, and all the heating elements started working perfectly again. It wasn't a super serious issue, just one of those things that happens as cars age. For your QX, it might be worth checking the battery first before diving into more complex electrical diagnostics. With 215k km, it could be facing similar issues. Make sure whoever looks at it runs a proper electrical system diagnostic, not just a basic battery check. Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
