Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's got 241081 KM on the clock, and my last service was about 3 months ago. Your situation does sound really similar to what I'm experiencing. That's actually quite helpful to know about the climate control unit I was worried it might be something more serious with the compressor. Did they need to reprogram anything after replacing the unit, or was it more of a plug-and-play fix?
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get your concern about the compressor that would've been a much bigger headache! To answer your question: in my case (2018 QX30, was around 220k km when it happened), they did have to do some basic reprogramming after installing the new climate control unit. It wasn't a huge deal though took them maybe an extra 30 minutes. Just so you know, when they replaced mine, the workshop had to clear all the stored error codes and then calibrate the new unit to work with the car's systems. It wasn't exactly plug-and-play, but definitely not as complicated as I initially feared. The whole job took about 2-3 hours. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply before they did the replacement, my mechanic actually tried resetting the module first (like a hard reset), but that didn't solve the issue. Might be worth asking your mechanic about trying that first, could save you some money if you're lucky! Though with your mileage being similar to what mine was, it's probably the same issue. How's the AC/heater behaving now? Any changes since your last post?
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's super helpful to know about the reprogramming I'll definitely mention that when I take it in. The AC/heater is still acting up the same way, no changes. But honestly, I feel much better knowing this is likely just a climate control unit issue rather than something more serious. I think I'll schedule an appointment with my mechanic next week to look into it. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience seems like I need to prepare for roughly the same repair cost and time frame you mentioned. Fingers crossed it's a straightforward fix like yours was! Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2018 Infiniti QX30 diesel (also had this on my Q50 before). The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with. Turned out my climate control unit was completely dead. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it right away. Cost me around 880€ to replace the unit parts and labor included. The new unit fixed everything proper airflow and temperature control working perfectly again. Before I share more specific details about the repair process what's your exact model and mileage? Just want to make sure we're dealing with the same setup here. Quick tip: Get it checked soon driving without proper climate control can be really uncomfortable, especially in extreme weather.
