Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the uneven brake pad wear sounds exactly like what might be happening with mine. Can I ask how much the whole repair ended up costing you? Also, has everything been running smoothly since you got it fixed, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Happy to help update you on my experience! Since I got the brake issue fixed in my QX50, it's been running like a dream absolutely zero brake problems. The repair I mentioned earlier cost me 480€ total, which covered replacing those unevenly worn brake pads and that faulty sensor. I know it wasn't cheap, but when it comes to brakes, I'd rather be safe than sorry! I took it to my local Infiniti dealership, and they really did a thorough job. You know how sometimes you get work done and you're still a bit worried? Not this time the braking feels smooth and consistent now, and that annoying warning light hasn't shown its face since. The regenerative braking system is working perfectly too. If your issue is similar to what I had, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Honestly, it's such a relief not having to worry about brake problems anymore. Let me know if you need any other info!
Just got back from the mechanic, and wow what a relief! Turns out you were spot on about the brake issue. Took it to the Infiniti dealer you mentioned, and they found almost the exact same problem uneven brake pad wear and a wonky sensor. The whole thing cost me about 520€, a bit more than what you paid, but they did throw in a full brake system inspection. The best part? They explained everything super clearly, showed me the worn parts, and even gave me some tips about maintaining the hybrid braking system. The car feels amazing now the braking is smooth, and that pesky warning light is finally gone! Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked out at the dealer. You saved me from probably making things worse by going to a regular mechanic who might not have understood the hybrid system. Really appreciate everyone's help on this one! Case closed!
Hey there, I actually faced a similar situation with my 2019 Infiniti QX50 Hybrid last summer at around 32,000 km. The brake warning light came on, and it turned out my brake pads were wearing unevenly, plus there was an issue with one of the brake sensors. Took it to the dealership since hybrids can be tricky with their regenerative braking systems. They found that the front brake pads were worn down faster than normal, and one sensor was faulty. They replaced both front brake pads and the sensor. The uneven wear was actually due to the regenerative braking system not engaging properly at times. It was pretty serious since it affected the overall braking performance and safety. The repair took about half a day, and they also checked the entire brake system to ensure everything else was working correctly. If you're dealing with a hybrid, I'd recommend going to a certified Infiniti dealer or a shop that specializes in hybrid systems, at least for the initial diagnosis. The brake system in hybrids is more complex than in conventional cars.
