Thanks for sharing your experience! My Infiniti is at 144875 KM and just had its service last month. Actually, when I try to operate the top, there's a faint clicking sound but nothing else happens. It just stopped working yesterday out of nowhere was working perfectly fine the day before. Haven't noticed any warning signs leading up to this. The mechanic at my last service didn't mention anything about the convertible system, so I'm a bit surprised by this sudden failure. Your cable connection issue sounds promising though hopefully it's something similarly straightforward. Did your warning light go away immediately after the fix?

Hey again! Thanks for those details about your car. Yeah, I remember when my Q60 had that issue it's definitely frustrating when these things happen out of nowhere! The clicking sound you're describing is exactly what I heard with mine too. And yes, the warning light disappeared right after they fixed the loose connections. But here's something I didn't mention in my first reply before taking it to the workshop, I actually tried a quick DIY check. I opened the trunk and looked at the visible cables near the hydraulic system (there's an access panel there). In my case, I could actually see one of the connections was a bit loose, though I let the pros handle the actual fix. Given your mileage (mine was around 130,000 KM when it happened), and the sudden nature of the problem, I'm even more convinced it might be the same issue I had. Especially since you mentioned it was working fine just the day before that's typically how these connection problems show up. Just a heads up while my fix was pretty simple, I'd still recommend getting it checked soon. These convertible systems can be tricky, and what starts as a small issue can sometimes lead to bigger problems if left unchecked. Have you scheduled an appointment with your mechanic yet?

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! I actually just checked the trunk access panel like you suggested, and while I don't see anything obviously wrong, it's really helpful to know where to look. I've already called my mechanic and got an appointment for tomorrow morning feeling much more optimistic now that it might just be a connection issue rather than something major. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, especially the tip about the access panel check. I'll update the thread once I get it fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Keep your fingers crossed that it's just loose cables like yours was!

Hey there! I've got some experience with convertibles. I actually had a similar issue with my 2014 Infiniti Q60 last summer. The symptoms were identical top wouldn't budge and warning light came on. Turned out it was just a loose cable connection in the convertible mechanism system. Took it to my regular workshop, and they found that some cables had worked themselves loose over time. The fix was pretty straightforward they reconnected everything properly and checked all the connections. Cost me around 95€ and took about an hour to fix. Before I can give more specific advice though, how old is your car exactly (mileage)? Does it make any noise when you try to operate the top? Did this happen suddenly or gradually? These details would help me figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Let me know!
