Infiniti Q's E-Call System Fault: Seeking Trusted Fix

Emergency system without function

Hi there, I've got a 2002 Infiniti Q (gas) with about 195K kilometers, and I'm having trouble with the emergency call system. The warning light keeps showing up, and the system isn't working at all. I had some sketchy experiences with mechanics before, so I'm a bit cautious now. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What was the actual problem, and where did you get it fixed? Any recommendations for reliable shops that won't overcharge? Thanks in advance for your help!

Had a similar issue with my 2005 Infiniti M35 last summer. The emergency call system went completely dead, and the warning light wouldn't stop flashing. Turned out the main speaker unit for the emergency system was fried, plus there was a wiring problem near the roof console. Took it to my regular Infiniti specialist they deal with these systems all the time. The repair wasn't too complicated, just needed the speaker unit replaced and some rewiring work. Not a critical safety issue for driving, but definitely something you want working in case of emergencies. If you're in doubt about a shop, look for one that specializes in Infiniti/Nissan. The emergency call system is pretty specific to these cars, and general mechanics sometimes miss the actual problem.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the speaker unit and wiring sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey there! Happy to help with an update. After getting my M35 fixed at the Infiniti specialist, the emergency call system has been working perfectly no more annoying warning lights or issues. The total bill came to 305€, which covered replacing that faulty speaker unit. Honestly, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. Since you asked, I haven't had any other problems pop up with the system it's been rock solid for months now. The warning light completely disappeared right after they fixed it. Those Infiniti specialists really knew what they were doing with the emergency call system. Just a heads up getting a proper diagnostic from someone who knows these systems is key. Like I mentioned before, regular mechanics sometimes struggle with these specific Infiniti features. Better to spend a bit more at a specialist than waste money on incorrect repairs, you know what I mean? Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know if you need any other info about the repair.

Thanks again for all the details! I actually took your advice and went to an Infiniti specialist yesterday. You were spot on it was the speaker unit causing problems, just like in your case. They charged me 320€, which wasn't too bad considering how worried I was about getting ripped off. The funny part was when the mechanic showed me the old speaker unit it looked pretty toasted! They were super professional though, explained everything clearly, and got it fixed in just a few hours. The warning light's gone now, and the system's working perfectly. Really glad I asked here first instead of going to my usual mechanic. Saved me from probably spending more money on wrong fixes. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction definitely feels good to have everything working properly again!
