Infiniti M Washer Jets Freeze: Common Fix & Mechanic Tips

Spray nozzles frozen

Hey all, got some trouble with my 2013 Infiniti M Diesel (160k km). The washer nozzles won't spray in cold weather pretty sure the heating element is shot. Had a bad experience with my usual mechanic recently, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with frozen washer nozzles on their Infiniti? What was the fix, and can you recommend a reliable mechanic who's familiar with these models? Thanks in advance!

Hi there, had the same issue on my 2010 Infiniti FX30d last winter. Initially thought it was just frozen fluid, but turned out the cable connection to the heating element was defective. The symptoms were identical nozzles wouldn't spray in cold weather, though they worked fine when it was warmer. Took it to the dealer because I wanted someone familiar with Infinitis. The tech showed me where the connection had corroded near the hood hinge. They had to replace the entire wiring harness for the washer system. Not a huge job, but definitely needed proper diagnostic equipment to confirm it was the heating element's wiring and not just a blocked line. It's been working perfectly since then, even in below-zero temperatures. I'd suggest finding an Infiniti specialist these heating elements are pretty specific to our models, and general mechanics sometimes miss the root cause. Hope this helps!

Thanks! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Mine's acting the same way works fine when it's warm out, but completely dead in the cold. Good to know about the wiring harness issue. Do you remember roughly how much they charged you for the repair? And has everything been smooth sailing since then, or did you run into any other electrical gremlins?

Hey again! Yep, just got back from the mechanic actually you'll be glad to know my FX30d's washer nozzles are working like a charm now! Since I wrote my first reply, I took my own advice and went to get it fixed. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed that pesky cable connection to the spray nozzle heater that was giving me grief. The total bill came to 95€, which honestly wasn't as bad as I expected. And to answer your question about other issues nope, absolutely zero problems since then! Been through some properly cold mornings lately, and the washers spray perfectly every single time. Such a relief not having to worry about visibility when it's freezing out. It's crazy how such a small thing can cause so much hassle, right? But at least it's a straightforward fix once you know what's wrong. If your symptoms match what I described, I'd bet you're dealing with the same issue. Worth getting it sorted before winter really kicks in! Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks for the detailed update! Just got back from fixing mine too, and you were spot on about everything. Found a specialist mechanic through a local Infiniti owners' group, and they knew exactly what to look for. Mine ended up costing a bit more around 120€ but they also cleaned out the whole system while they were at it. The mechanic showed me the corroded wiring, and wow, it was in worse shape than I expected! Got it all sorted now though, and just like yours, the washers are working perfectly even in the cold mornings we've been having. Really appreciate everyone's help on this one saved me from going back to my old mechanic who probably would've just scratched their head at it. Guess sometimes it pays to ask around! Marking this as solved now. Thanks again for all the input!
