Thanks for sharing your experience. That's really helpful, as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Quick question do you remember roughly how much the whole repair ended up costing you? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you had any other DPF-related issues pop up?
Hey again! Yeah, no problem at all! The total bill came to 1550€ to fix the defective Diesel particles the high mileage had really done a number on them. But I can tell you it was worth every penny because since seeing the mechanic, that annoying "Particulate filter efficiency too low" warning is completely gone. I'm happy to report that everything's been running like a dream since the repair no more black smoke, power's back to normal, and the car feels like its old self again. It's been about a year now, and I haven't had a single DPF issue pop up. The engine's purring along nicely, and fuel efficiency is actually better than it was before. Just make sure you find a good diesel specialist who knows what they're doing it makes all the difference. Mine gave me some tips about driving habits to help maintain the DPF system too, which has been really useful. Let me know if you need any other info!
Thanks a lot for all the details! I bit the bullet and took it to a diesel specialist yesterday. You were right about everything my DPF was completely clogged and needed replacement. The final bill was actually pretty close to what you paid, around 1600 €. They finished the work this morning, and wow, what a difference! The black smoke is gone, and it's got its power back. The mechanic was really thorough and even showed me what the old DPF looked like it was in pretty rough shape. Got some good advice about maintaining the new DPF too, like making sure to take regular highway drives to help with regeneration. Overall, I'm just relieved it's sorted now. Really appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction. Would've probably wasted time and money at a regular garage if you hadn't shared your experience!
Hey there, I faced similar issues with my 2014 Infiniti Q50 Diesel when it hit 165k km last year. The symptoms you're describing are pretty much identical to what I experienced black smoke, sluggish acceleration, and failed DPF regen cycles. Turned out my DPF was severely clogged and had internal damage from multiple incomplete regenerations. The high mileage had taken its toll on the particle filter system. In my case, after diagnostic tests, they found that the DPF pressure sensors were also failing, which prevented proper regeneration cycles. Had it fixed at a specialized diesel workshop they had to replace the entire DPF unit and pressure sensors. It was quite a serious job since a faulty DPF can potentially damage other engine components if left untreated. The repairs took about two days to complete. My advice would be to get it checked ASAP at a shop that specifically deals with diesel particulate systems. These symptoms typically don't improve on their own and can lead to bigger issues down the line.
